For those die-hard campers who just can’t leave their gear at home (but want to experience a little more luxury) we have reserved a limited number of sites for guests to pitch-their-own tent. Each site comes with fire ring, access to all site amenities. Nearby you will find hot showers stocked with towels and EO Marin bath products.
Cooking can be done on site at our community BBQ facility. Provisions can be purchased easily in town at the fabulous Mendosa's Market — a 2 minute car ride.
This secluded historic property is located on 37 acres of woodland 1/4 mile south of the charming town of Mendocino and a spectacular beach at the mouth of Big River.
Price includes 2 adults. 2 children can join for $10/night
Note: There is a 3 night minimum for Labor Day Weekend. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate anything less than 3 nights. If you submit a request that is fewer than 3 nights it will be declined.

The vibe at Pitch-Your-Own-Tent
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Mendocino Grove is such a beautiful coastal gem! The property is well maintained, has incredible facilities (hot water showers + bathrooms with hand towels), and is tucked within many redwood trees. The Pitch-Your-Own-Tent section is located beyond the center meadow. The property is drivable and there is a bulletin board near the main bathrooms that greet you on arrival with your reservation and map.
The Pitch your own tent area is on the smaller side so one tent can comfortably fit in each of the 4 sites. Each has a fireplace and grill as well as a picnic table. There is ample firewood throughout the property so you can keep you fire burning all night long. The campsites were also covered with hay so the ground was super soft to sleep on. Bathrooms and showers (both indoor and outdoor) are within walking distance.
There is also a short walking trail next to the area. We woke up to a communal breakfast being offered (yogurt, bars and clementines) with coffee, hot tea, and hot chocolate as well!
The other areas on the property have canvas tents and airstreams! SO COOL.
There is a beach down highway 1 that many people bonfire at. It was such a beautiful weekend, Mendocino is magic. I will definitely be back again!
