In a quiet location, nestled under big Douglas Fir trees and on its own pond sits the Jennifer Cottage.  The cottage used to be a fish hatchery- now it’s a cozy three-bedroom house with one bathroom, full kitchen, sunny living room and wraparound deck! The cottage is close to, but tucked away from the Stage and other main camping areas.  It is also nearby the footpath to the Reservoir, which is open to swimming, kayaking, and catch-and-release fishing. Here you can experience the great outdoors while still having a full kitchen and a place to gather with friends.

The property was nice enough but needs some TLC to justify the price. For example the cottage had dirty floors, cobwebs everywhere, and was full of spiders to the point where we were taking spiders off our bedsheets every night. The cottage provided towels but no facecloths. The reservoir is beautiful but the only convenient beach area has been made into a private campsite so everyone else sits cramped together on a muddy bank. There are two easy trails to hike but there are porta potties and campsites along the path where people play music, so you never get to really enjoy the nature. It’s not a terrible place, but it feels like the owners have tried to maximize the number of guests on the property without thinking about the comfort and beauty of the environment.

On the plus side the cottage is around 1 hour from the Avenue of the Giants, where we had a lot of fun relaxing amongst the trees and swimming in Eel River.
