We absolutely loved this campsite. The host was so welcoming and very COIVD minded. Took our temperature and had us answer the standard questions. Made us feel very safe. The actual campsite was really great too. On the picnic bench we found apples and pears from their own harvest! And there was water for our pup waiting when we arrived. We certainly come back and stay again !

Thanks! You guys were great guests. Little Scout was indeed the sweetest pup! Glad you liked the fresh fruit on the table. We have so much, we're happy to send campers home with a bunch! Hope you can come back and stay a little longer next time so we have time to chill.

Lucky Penny is a great little spot - we enjoyed the superb outdoor solar shower, clean toilet and picnic bench. It made everything just that much easier. Hillary left us a lovely bowl of apples and led us by car to a super cool watering hole.

The property is actually huge ... we didn't check ot enough of it. It was warm in the day, and cool at night - fantastic stargazing!

Lucky Penny is such a treat, we had the fortune of being the only campers on a gorgeous fall weekend. Hillary and the other residents were very respectful of COVID protocol, and she even left us some apples and herbs from the garden which were phenomenal.

The property is so charming, the cooking area was stocked with everything you might need and an admirable selection of books and CDs (!!!), and the bathrooms were very clean and odorless. There is a network of trails that goes back much further than you'd expect, we had a great time wandering with the pup and appreciating all the local flora and fauna. However, my favorite amenity was definitely the outdoor shower, absolutely gorgeous.

Laytonville is a cute town and right around the corner with all the basic supplies you'd expect and then some, I recommend a scenic drive to the coast from the property, maybe 45 minutes one way.

I hate to draw attention to what will surely become a favorite spot but these people deserve all of the promotion. Thank you so much for the wonderful time.

I enjoyed my stay at Lucky Penny so much that I added a second night!

The grounds are funky in a good way—more casual and homey than, say, a state park campground: couches under the trees, claw-foot bathtubs adjacent to the shower area, a jigsaw puzzle on one of the picnic tables, and ♥♥♥ Rodney the cat. I was delighted by how well-appointed the outdoor kitchen is, and appreciated how it served as the central hangout—was nice to have that social aspect, as well as plenty of spots to sit by myself.

Another thing that sets Lucky Penny apart from other campsites is music: Hillary hails from a musical family, and I so very much enjoyed kicking back one morning, playing guitars and singing with Dave and Aldman—it was a highlight of my vacation, soaking up that yummy energy these folks all share.

I felt welcome, I felt safe as a solo traveler, and filled with joy. Looking forward to my next visit!

Hillary’s property was perfect! It was well kept up, clean and private. I especially loved the fresh picked herbs Hillary left for us our our site! We only stayed for one night but would highly recommend.
