My wife and I arranged a honeymoon trip to Vancouver before the coronavirus pandemic, and we needed a local place to stay after our trip was cancelled. After combing through Hipcamp and Airbnb for about a week, we chose to drive up from Sacramento to Belcampo farms.
When we arrived, we were immediately pleased with the scenery. The surrounding farmland is beautiful, and the clear view of Mt. Shasta is breathtaking. The campsite is nestled in a fenced in portion of the larger farm, and it seems like it's own little world. Very peaceful and private.
Michael is an amazing host. When we first arrived, he took us around the entire farm and made us feel comfortable with using the amenities. The outdoor kitchen area is very clean and very comfortable, and even has a traeger to use. The bar area is especially nice, because you get a straight shot view of Mt. Shasta.
The bathrooms are way beyond expectation for a camping experience. They are clean, and have a warm shower that you might expect to find in a hotel room. If you're looking for a grungy camping experience, the bathrooms are not for you. Michael even provided towels.
The tent is very cozy, and looks exactly like what you see in some of the pictures on Hipcamp. The bed is comfortable, the tent is clean, and the screen doors work wonders at keeping almost all of the bugs out (assuming you use it correctly, don't leave it wide open and expect the same result). It never felt like we were out in the wild; it reminded me of when I would build an outdoor fort as a kid. Way more comfortable that a traditional camping experience and with all of the benefits of the nature sounds/feel.
Franki was great too. She hooked us up with some Belcampo organic free-range steaks and ground beef that tasted amazing. I would highly recommend that you purchase a few things, you won't regret it. It's tough to beat a steak that comes straight from the farm you're at.
If you're into hiking or climbing, there is a ton of options in the area to explore no matter what your skill level is. Lake Siskiyou and Pluto's cave were our favorite spots. I'll be attempting Shasta in July, so look out for me at the top!
Finally, there is Basil. If you read any of the other reviews that mention him, you will learn that he is pretty amazing. He stayed with us the entire trip, occasionally wandering off to do cat things. He is extremely friendly and curious, so he will invite himself to partake in whatever you are doing. At night, make sure to crack the bottom of the tent just a tad so he can get in. He slept with us every night and snuggled up against our feet. We still miss Basil and hope we see him again in the near future.
The "too long, didn't read" version of this review: just book your trip already before someone else does, you won't regret it!
If Micheal and Franki are reading this, we wan't to thank you again for your hospitality. It was a great experience.
Belcampo Free Range Farm is a magical place! We booked both sites so we had the whole farm to ourselves. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are clean, the gazebo/grilling area is gorgeous and the fire pit is a dream as well! You can roam the orchards, see the cows across the street and just unwind and disconnect for a couple of days! The farm is a short drive (~20min) from the closest town with a supermarket in case you get a late night s'mores craving.
The host, Michael, is responsive and has great people who will be able to answer your questions in case you have any! Jody was always a quick text/phone call away when we needed to know where to dispose of the trash and how to turn on the beautiful lights around the gazebo at night.
I cannot wait to return in the spring!

Free Range Farm was a very comfortable and relaxing stay.
The farm itself was beautiful, with a bunch of fun places to check out, including spots to barbecue, firepits and several fruits to pick as you wonder with views of Mt. Shasta!
The tents were great, very comfortable and warm. We didn't feel cold at all and felt very private with the tarp down. We had a slightly surprising experience during the night as Basil strayed in our tent for a quick visit! He was very sweet and just laid near the bed, before going back outside to explore.
Overall the experience was perfect and just what we needed. Bathrooms were very clean as well. Directions were clear as well and instructions on where things were and what we can do were clearly laid out!

Beautiful setting, very comfortable beds and tent, friendly farm cat. The host had organized separate bathrooms for each of the 3 parties staying the night we were there, so we felt extra safe as far as Covid goes. Would definitely stay again!
Beautiful location, tents and bed set up were exactly as pictured on hipcamp,
Beds were comfy and I’m pretty sure ruined camping for me forever (can’t sleep on a sleeping pad after that experience). They have a cooking station with Traeger grills and the option to buy local meat, eggs, and limited produce on site. We didn’t arrive until 8pm on our first night and they had left the meat we ordered in a cooler with ice for us to grab when we arrived. So hospitable! I never got to meet Michael but he was so responsive, friendly, and helpful. Another thing that was great was having an assigned bathroom, especially with COVID. I think they do a really thoughtful cleaning of the tent (maybe even an entire day between guests) as a precaution for COVID.
One note — it gets REALLY warm by ~10am so it’s not a place to really hang out during the day. There are tons of hikes and places to explore within a 30 minute drive, though.
Can’t wait to come back soon!

Very nice accommodations, and was a relaxing and peaceful stay. Basil the farm cat was a great ambassador and tour guide for our walk around the greenhouse and garden. Would definitely recommend a stay at Belcampo 😊

Beautiful and amazing!! Loved every second of our stay.. clean bathrooms and tent with a comfortable bed!
