Our lovely lake offers serenity in a beautifully unique setting, nestled deep into the forest. Enjoy the scenic and exhilarating drive to our hidden gem along the South Fork of the American River- this is all for you to discover. The night skies above Finnon Lake will reveal stars unseen in most parts of California. Enjoy searching for bullfrogs, and watch the flock of Canadian Geese fly in right at sunset as the horizon blends into the watercolor sky. This private lake supports the fire protection efforts of the Mosquito Fire Protection District and the firefighters of this community. The lake is managed by volunteers of the community for the benefit of the residents The primary funding source for the Finnon Lake Restoration is the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, which was signed into law in 2004 with a mission to support “efforts that improve the environmental, economic and social well-being of the Sierra Nevada Region, its communities and the residents of California,” according to its Website. Finnon Lake is also home to a popular 18-hole disc golf course and Mosquito’s only restaurant, Frank's Diner. Enjoy swimming, boating, fishing, paddling, hiking, or biking during your stay. Potable water, picnic tables, campfire rings, and toilets on site. The property can not accommodate horses. 2 dogs per site limit. Our property is located in Placerville, California. Placerville is a charming California gold rush town named after the placer gold deposits found in its riverbeds and hills in the late 1840s. PLEASE NOTE, there is construction on the Mosquito Bridge. Expect delays, RVs/trailers must use Rock Creek Road (even if your GPS says Mosquito Road). Please message me with any questions. Please see our website: finnonrecreationarea.com for full directions. What a great place
The lakeside sites are absolutely beautiful We loved watching all of the different birds. Especially the bald eagle pair with their baby. Bring binoculars. The lake was lovely. Mist in the morning, fishing kayaking etc Bathrooms were super clean. Sites were super clean. We’ll definitely come back.

We had a wonderful time! The campsite is very large, right on the water, next to the beach. It is close enough to the restrooms which are kept extremely clean. This spot has a view of the resident eagle's nest and we were fortunate to get pictures of the eagle's. We cut our trip short due to weather. But we will 100% be back in the summer.

Cute spot but be careful of route!
Adorable campground, just keep in mind the reservoir is very small, much smaller than the photos portray it to be. I am traumatized by the Mosquito Road bridge, surprised there's not more online about how terrifying that bridge was. DO NOT drive on Mosquito road to Finnon Lake unless you want a lot of adrenaline! That road needs a lot of warning signs, I had no idea what I was getting myself into and shit a brick when I saw the teeny white bridge 1000 feet up with sharp incline down to bridge and up from the bridge. Mosquito Road and Highway 193 are right next to each other. I took highway 193 back home and it was much more sane.

Last night around 10 we were in great need of a last minute camp spot and found this online. We were able to book it last minute and head up the mountain and found our spot easily. In the morning we woke up to a beautiful view of the lake from our rooftop tent! Highly recommend
