Camp in a 35 acre land surrounded by hills, mountain views and an open sky. The sunsets and sunrises are spectacular year round.  Stars and open skies that you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else in southern California.  Just 15 minutes from Temecula wineries, 40 minutes from the alpine, artsy town of Idyllwild in the San Jacinto Mountains, and just 15 minutes from the 215 in Menifee toward Hemet.  Best camping from early autumn to lush springtime where we have great wildflower blooms.

Cooperative managers Jim and Dawn host campers who want to enjoy nature, participate in permaculture gardening all while off-setting their travel footprint. Fees are used to plant trees and enrich the land.  The property is a restorative ecovillage (turning severely damaged land into an oasis of hope) where we invite you to participate in creative local solutions to our larger global problems.

I really don’t want to post a review because selfishly I want to keep this a well kept secret, but their hard work is too great not to share. This is a wonderful get away. As private or not as you want. Everyone’s so friendly and welcoming. They give great recommendations for all over the region. Unbelievable views!! So much wildlife all around. AND it’s all responsibly and sustainably done! This is truly a very special place for campers. ❤️

Jim, Dawn, and the entire crew at EcoShire were absolutely wonderful! This weekend was such a magical little getaway and the perfect reset! I can not recommend this place enough. The campsite is clean and has everything you could need including a cafe with incredible food, a pool, multiple bathrooms and showers, fun activity areas, baby goats, and incredible people. I can not wait to go back and visit again soon!

Jim is an excellent host. He was kind enough to accommodate us on another site with a shade. Also he showed us around his farm and allowed us to pick vegetables if needed.

On the other hand, this site is filled with SNAKES, bugs and ants. We saw atleast 4 snakes near our campsite, but the host caught them. If you are afraid of snakes, this is the right place for you. Also, restrooms are not at all maintained for the price we paid. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place for 40$ a night. Few free campsites have better facilities than this.

Jim was extremely accommodating and helpful! I would definitely recommend to those who just need an opportunity to get out of the city should check out Ecoshire! Jim have definitely turned this place into a community and the history behind it was impressive! I would come here when Lake Diamond opens up again, as its in the area for beautiful scenic hiking.

Chris & Jim offered to help my group fixed our tent after failing at setting it up the first time.

We couldn't have hoped for a better stay at Jim and Dawn's Eco village. There's lots of great things going on to make the land sustainable, fun and interesting. We had dinner up at the little reception/ kitchen area on Saturday night which was great. On Sunday we just took it easy, had brunch and crave worthy iced coffees with homemade whipped cream. In the evening we cooked in our camper van and made a camp fire. On our last day, we drove up to Idyllwild and went on a beautiful hike, did a bit of shopping and had a tasty dinner before driving back when Jim set up the outdoor projector screen and campers gathered to watch the Goonies. It was magical!
Everyone who works on site goes to a real effort to make it a great experience for their visitors. We had a blast and are already planning our next trip there!

Lake view trail was beautiful in the sunset, and extreme. Abandoned valley is really interesting. And it’s a friendly place. We where all happy visiting this place.

The experience exceeded my expectations. They have a beautiful property. Jim and the rest of the crew were very friendly and made us feel at home. The bathroom with new outdoor shower and compost toilet was clean and the pool was great for cooling off from the heat. We stayed in early July so it got hot but a day trip to cooler temps in higher elevation in Idyllwild was less than an hour away. Make sure to take a morning or evening hike on the Lakeview trail to take in the gorgeous views. Very little lights in the area made it also a great location for stargazing. We will definitely be back;
