Can you believe this used to be a water tank?! In addition to being an incredibly attentive and gracious Host, Jim has an amazing ability to see potential in something and make his vision come to life. The Glamp Tank is a super cool loft "cabin," with amazing views of the desert and sunset. Bonus for heat freaks like me: it's the warmest spot on the property because of the late afternoon sun it gets.

Other perks of this listing:
- private outhouse
- shade structure, chairs, fire pit
- likely visits from super nice camp dogs Gypsy and Jill

This camp is a must-see. Guaranteed you've never experienced anything like it <3

The Glamp Tank affords an amazing view of the desert and sunset. Fortunately, Jim supplies two chairs exactly for this.Golden Hour at the Glamp Tank. Truly one of the coolest structures I've seen on Hipcamp—and one of the warmest spots on the property. (You get that late afternoon sun.)Jim is the outhouse-building King. You get your own private outhouse at this camp!

Glamping at the Water Tank was an unforgettable experience! We were 3 people and 2 dogs who stayed there on Dec 21, and the Water Tank was warm and comfortable. There are two bunk beds with thing firm mattresses, and they were sturdy and felt safe. (Two of us slept on the top bunk, so the Water Tank could definitely sleep 4 people comfortably.) Totally appreciate that it was dog-friendly! There are several windows looking out, so it kind of feels like you're inside a tiny cabin. The Water Tank is in a private site on a dirt road that is well-kept. Our Host Jim sent us helpful directions, and he also said we could meet him at his home which is nearby on the property so that he could show us the way. Inside the Water Tank, there is a Franklin stove and a propane heater, so we kept warm even though it was late December, and there was a 50-mile-per-hour windstorm outside in the middle of the night and during the morning! The Water Tank kept us protected from all that. The fire circle outside with two provided chairs was lovely, and our Host Jim provided cooking equipment (pots and pans) and some potable water. The private outhouse was just a minute outside the water tank and was clean and reasonable. Jim's dogs Jypsy and Jill are the coolest dogs, and they might visit you. They are super-friendly!

There's a franklin stove inside the Glamp Tank, so you can keep warm on cold nights. We stayed in December, and felt toasty warm from burning some wood in the stove. There is a lantern hanging inside the Glamp Tank near the top bunk. The campsite includes a picnic table underneath a shade structure, and a fire circle next to that. There are 4-5 windows in the Glamp Tank, so it feels like a tiny cabin.

Jim is an awesome host and we had a good time but the bunk bed in the water tank was built precariously and we couldn’t sleep on the top bunk for fear of it crashing and hurting the people sleeping below us. When we moved to the back middle it made this HUGE splintering cracking sound and we found and took pictures of cracks in the foundation. Outside of that it was an awesome place to spend a night and Jim was extremely accommodating and promised us that the bed would be fixed.

This place was so great!

Jim provided everything we needed and more. The outhouse was nice and clean with no smell, there was plenty of firewood, there were extra cups, paper towels, and cooking supplies. The beds were also more spacious than expected and very comfortable. The space is very private and quiet with beautiful views. Would highly recommend!

Jim's Glamping Tank site looks just like the pictures but it feels way cooler to experience in person. We spent one night and would come back for a whole weekend next time. We had our first rattle snake encounter when we saw one go to its home under the tank, but we were pretty confident it could not get through the floor boards. Awesome nature experience at Jims Tank!!

Jim's place was exactly as advertised and expected. The tank was so cute. He had firewood, starters, matches and lighter fluid which made everything easy. There was even a little oven heater with wood and another lighter fluid in the tank. We went to stargaze and it did not disappoint, we could see the milky way and it was so beautiful. I planned the whole visit and as we drove away my husband said, "I'm definitely coming back here!" Thanks Jim!

Unique structure, very private setting. We visited on a very windy December night and it was warm and cozy inside. Comfortable and equipped with firewood and pans for cooking on the fire. Our host, Jim, also provided a cooler of fresh water.

I've been back to Songdog Ranch a handful of times but this was my first time camping in a converted water tank. :) The host, Jim does an incredible job of mapping out sites on his property with enough space for privacy and this site is no exception. I didn't quite know what to expect, and ended up being completely blown away with the entire experience and amenities provided, including a fully stocked camp kitchen kit, firewood already at the site, a hanging lantern in the structure, chairs, a dedicated toilet for the site, and wood-burning stove inside the water tank that heats up the space well.

It's going to be a hard decision to tent camp when I come back next... LOVED staying in the water tank and if you're considering it at all, don't hesitate, book it! This could be a great place for a small group to stay as well.

We visited to see the 2019 #superbloom in Carrizo Plain National Monument, and the flowers on the East Side of Songdog Ranch ended up being the better than what we saw in the monument.

More pros:
- A great entry to glamping... Not over-the-top which I enjoyed. Bring your own sleeping bag!
- Tons of privacy.
- Tons of space all to yourself + your group.
- Incredible views from the site.
- You can lay in bed with the door completely open, so it feels like you're outside.

What a site.
Private and secluded. Great place to escape. Mid summer can be hot however, so plan some time in the forest in altitude when it's hottest or ask for the water trough to stay cool. Great experience
