Camp Nauvoo is a wonderful place to spend time with your family. Greg is really dedicated to making it a fun and easy place for quality time. There's a nice lodge stocked with board games and a keurig machine. It has a large covered patio with grills and picnic tables near the river. We hung out on that patio and cooked and relaxed nearly the entirely time, while our kids played in the river and in the adjacent field. Greg set up kiddie pools for the little ones, and handed out popsicles. He built a small dam on the river so there's a nice swimming hole, and there were some inflatable rafts available to use. He also put up a swing set while we were there, and was constantly installing stuff. He only bought the place in November, so it'll be exciting to see how great it becomes in a few months. We actually stayed in a glamping tent to move near our friends. I did walk by the #4 site (and all the other sites) and they all seemed like very nice places to tent. The glamping tent was extremely comfortable.
Best camping experience!! Greg and Laurie were the best hosts. They have thought of everything to set the camp site ready for campers and then they go above and beyond. From booking process to the checking out, they are always there to accommodate you whatever you need. We got to the campground around 8 and my friends arrived around 11PM. They wait for you to check you in and to make sure you get there ok.
Our family of three including 4 year old boy stayed very comfortably in a glamping tent. Tent had everything we needed-comfortable bed, towel, lanterns, and even bottled water. Tent #2 was located at the end of path, which was very private and spacious. Nobody walks next to this tent. The propane firepit was awesome to sit around at night and relax. Of course perfect for S'mores too.
What else can I say? It is just awesome place with awesome people. It has good clean swimming holes, floaties available, little swing sets, giant fire pit and lodge with games and pingpong table. For some reason, there are far less bugs/mosquitoes compared to other campgrounds. :) Totally loved this camp site.
An absolutely outstanding stay! A+. What can I say? Peacefulness, amenities, variety of activities, cleanliness and seeing the true care and love Greg and his staff has for the property and it's continued upgrades make this a must return venue!!
Had a great weekend here. Greg was very attentive and always around if we needed something. The Safari tents are amazing - they have their own little corner of the property, separated from the tent sites by the creek. If you want privacy pick Safari #2 (Comanche). Being the second one in line, no one walks past your tent and your front door opens out into a small clearing with seating, a picnic table and hammock with nothing but trees beyond. Beds were comfortable, LED lanterns provided in the tents, bathroom facilities were clean and friendly. And very few bugs! There is a nice hiking trail (good elevation change!) and many swimming holes along the creek.
Since this is their first season at this property, Greg and Laurie are still experimenting with what works and what doesn't, but it is obvious that they care about the success of the endeavor. They have plans for additional improvements. Playground equipment had just been installed when we were there and a third teepee went up. Can't wait to see how much better this place is by the time we go back next summer.
Not sure if links are allowed in these reviews, but here's a brief video of our weekend that shows a lot of the property in brief glimpses... https://youtu.be/DDhG7lYD5s0
