Go behind the scenes at Bear Camp. This is normally where our artists and production staff camp during our festivals and some of the most beautiful camping on our property. Bear Camp gets its name from presumedly an actual bear that was buried here, but who know if that's really true! Note: this camp is closest to our camp hosts and the road noise of Highway 101.

The Black Oak Ranch has hosted music festivals on our beautifully 150 acre property for almost 30 years, including The Hog Farm Pignic, Earthdance, The Kate Wolf Music Festival, and the inaugural Hog Farm Hangout scheduled for next year. For the first time, we are opening up our festival site for private camping. Conveniently located just off of Highway 101 in Mendocino County, The Black Oak Ranch is home to majestic old oak trees, leafy bay groves, and Ten Mile Creek which is perfect for cooling off on hot summer days. The Black Oak Ranch has an abundance of wildlife including deer, raptors, and our newest residents a family of beavers! Please note: our property is conveniently located just off of Highway 101 and you will hear noise from the highway.

Campsites are on flat terrain and can accommodate cars or RVs. All campsites have shade most or all of the day. The creek is a short walk away from each campsite. Please plan on making your site your own by bringing your own setups, gas-powered camp stoves, etc. We will provide a 6' table and some folding chairs to get you started. We suggest bringing a festive table cover. No wood or charcoal BBQs due to high fire danger. Gas fire bowls are allowed as long as they are not placed on grass (we can help you place them).  Each campsite has access to a private, clean Porta Pottie. We do not offer showers at this time. Ten Mile creek is great for wading and some parts of the creek depending on the year are swimmable. Our campsite hosts will be able to direct you to the current swimming holes on the creek. Fires are not permitted on the property at this time. Kids 12 and under are free. All kids must be counted in your stable family bubble. One one stable bubble per campsite. Per Mendocino County Health Ordinance, stable family bubbles must be from the same household, living unit, or Household Support Unit are limited to six total guests including children per campsite.

We are open and accepting reservations. However, please be advised we may need to cancel and refund reservations due to COVID-19.  Right now we are accepting reservations Thursday-Monday each week, but if you'd like to come on another day please message us and we will do our best to accommodate.

All guests are required to abide by the following COVID-19 Health & Safety Rules:

1.     Guest temperatures and an intake questionnaire will be taken upon arrival. If guests exhibit elevated temperatures or other COVID-19 symptoms at check-in or during their stay, they and the rest of their group will be asked to leave and quarantine for 14-days offsite.

We loved our 4 days at Black Oak Ranch. The campsites are very far apart, spacious, and lovely. It is really clean and safe and the hosts have put up instructions and signs that make it work seamlessly. The river is close by and we loved our time hanging out both by the river and in our campsite. The hosts were attentive and friendly. I'll surely recommend it!

I brought the kids (in their 20’s) to Black Oak Ranch to stay in bear camp and it was awesome! We all had such a wonderful time!

Nate & Ray greeted us in masks, made sure we were situated and had everything we needed, cleaned and disinfected everything, and were on site without being intrusive at all. The campsite included a table, chairs, fire extinguisher, a trashcan with a locking lid, and a designated Porto. We felt so safe!

We spent the days by the water laughing at pollywogs, letting little fish nibble our toes, and watching dragonflies and so many birds go by. The trees are gorgeous, and fragrant, and provided the perfect shade for afternoon naps. The stars were simply stunning.

This little trip was the exact re-set we all needed. 2 stress free nights to let go and relax.

Thank you so very much.

It was everything that the body and mind needed. A few days at The Ranch minus the shows and pure bliss. It was great to see some fields left to fallow, the river was amazing, and seeing The Ranch in a natural state blew my mind. If you have a chance I would certainly make time for a trip this year. I know that my group and I will be back a couple of times before winter. This is a camping experience that will rejuvenate you and take your mind off of the world. I would suggest turning your phone off disconnecting from your PDA, and just enjoy the facility. It did wonders for me.

So much space, beautiful old oak trees, super chill hosts, great creek right there (might be dry by Late August or September, dog friendly—pretty great! Next time we might get a different site because the highway noise was a constant, but that was clearly stated in the description. Overall, a lovely spot to camp!
