Come stay in our cozy little cabin tucked in an alder forest. Only a few minutes drive from downtown Arcata, it’s like being in the middle of the woods, right in town. This is a quiet neighborhood and is bike-friendly for getting around town. Feel free to ask us for recommendations on places to eat, get a drink, or find an adventure in Arcata and surrounding areas. We are located less than 40 minutes from Redwood National and State Parks where you can find incredible hiking trails!Come stay in our cozy little cabin tucked in an alder forest. Only a few minutes drive from downtown Arcata, it’s like being in the middle of the woods, right in town. This is a quiet neighborhood and is bike-friendly for getting around town. Feel free to ask us for recommendations on places to eat, get a drink, or find an adventure in Arcata. The cabin is a short walk from the parking spot. There is a full size bed, but we do NOT provide linens or bedding so please bring your own. There is a blanket for chilly nights. Please keep in mind it can get cold at night so please plan accordingly. There are lights and electricity in cabin. Please keep in mind this is a camping experience and while the cabin provides shelter, it is rustic. Feel free to explore the garden/orchard/greenhouse area (through the small gate by the cabin), just be sure to close the gate behind you to keep the deer out. As noted, there are an abundance of banana slugs during some times of the year. They are harmless and sometime a little too friendly. Feel free to gently relocate them from around the cabin if needed. *Fall 2023 Note: We are constructing a new house near the cabin at this time. There may be construction noise during the daytime (9am-5pm) some days of the week.

Bayside Cabin

Excellent Cabin Design

Ted & Emily have impeccable taste in how they built their high ceiling window pane centric surf cabin, complete with a cast iron wood fireplace/mini stovetop, an outdoor kitchen, shower with it's own adjustable water heater for as hot as you'd like, and an enclosed flushable toilet. I was surprised by how dark and quiet it is at night for uninterrupted sleep and how beautiful the trees and shrubbery are as a wrap around accent wall of texture and privacy. This was well beyond my expectations of a rustic cabin & a great thought experiment in minimalistic alternative dwelling designs.

Bayside Cabin

This was such a cozy and convenient stay! The outdoor kitchen was perfect, the shower was hot, and the interior was clean and cozy. Ted and Emily were incredible hosts and their pups were so sweet! We’d absolutely stay again!

Bayside Cabin

Beautiful spot and convenient location, just a few minutes from downtown Arcata and the university. It is definitely a more rugged cabin with an outdoor kitchen and shower, but a huge upgrade from the van camping we had been doing. The wood stove is very effective at keeping the cabin warm.

Bayside Cabin

It’s a nice cabin to shelter from the weather with a woodstove, and wood is provided. The outside kitchen however is not that great (only one burner working), and not sheltered from rain. The shower that’s available is a fully outdoor shower, which was not advertised. All in all we felt it was a nice small upgrade from a regular camping stay, but rather overpriced for what it was.

Highly recommend

Great place not too far from Arcata. Ted was very gracious. Place was cozy and convenient. Also very clean! Just remember to bring sleeping gear with you.
