Great place for family camping
This is a hidden gem. The property was so peaceful and private and quiet. It was huge and my kids loved wandering around and playing in the creek. More than ample space to set up our big tent, hookups worked great. It's right in between Bryce, Zion, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, around 1 1/2 hours to each of them, so this is a great place to camp and do daytrips. Darlene and Steve were helpful and responsive hosts. So glad we found this place!
We loved staying here! The hookups and water are SO helpful when you have a camper and it’s below freezing at night haha. Nice, secluded little spot that isn’t super challenging to find if you follow the directions- it’s pretty straight forward. The location is cute, well maintained, clean, and private. Darlene was a total sweetheart as well and we felt very comfortable staying here.
Horse camping in kanab!
Lucky and Grateful are the two words coming to mind reflecting upon our visit to Kanab. Our family had never been to Kanab and we hadn't planned anything for spring break. My son wanted to hike in Zion and my daughter wanted to spend time with her horse. My husband found Darlene's accommodations online. Darlene and her husband Steve were so helpful, giving directions over the phone, suggestions for hiking, restaurant suggestions and letting me ride their wonderful horse Joy! We pull a 37ft horse trailer with living quarters, my husband, with Darlene and Steves guidance, was able to take the trailer all the way to their perfect hook-up. We had privacy, electricity, water, and a lovely paddock for the horses to stay in. Just behind us my daughter and I easily found the trail Darlene had described to us; we had a wonderful short evening ride, followed by a beautiful 3 hour ride the next day. We didn't see another person and had a wonderful picnic lunch. I recommend staying at Moonlight Ravine with or without horses. It has something for everyone, my son and husband hiked Wire Pass, made fires for s'mores and shot cans. Darlene and Steve were extremely knowledgable of the area and great hosts!
We went to Moonlight Ravine spontaneously after we had left another spot that did not meet our expectations. To be honest, we did not give Moonlight Ravine a good start: We arrived in the dark, it was windy and cold, nobody else around and even no horses (which we expected from the pics and Description online). But Darlene‘s hospitality made up for everything. When she heard about our disappointment about the horses she asked us round her home in Kanab, where all the horses were (because she is giving horse lessons there). We met all her horses and dogs which made our kids more than happy. And our five year old daughter even had her first ride! Not only that: Darlene took us a to a perfect lunch Spot in the nearby animal sanctuary and gave us a ton of other tips for our onward travel. Thank you so much!
Darlene gave us great info about the area and was very helpful. Nearby Kanab is a great little town for supplies. Close to Zion, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and beauty everywhere. If you like desert camping and privacy it is great.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moonlight Ravine. It was a great compromise between being remote and private, while still having power and water hookups for our RV. There is plenty of room for the dogs to run, and for walks on the property, but is still a short drive to town if you need/want anything.
Rural but not quiet!
All facilities as well expected (sadly propane ran out in middle of shower). Location worked for us - but ground too hard to use tent pegs and too close to a road artery to sleep well (big rigs came past often). We did hear our first coyotes! And stars were wonderful
