A truly amazing Pacific Northwest experience. Located in the heart of the Puget Sound on the island of Vashon, known for its quaint, laid back, nature-loving community. A short ferry ride away from both Seattle and Tacoma. Nature and activity lover's paradise, with available kayaks, amazing biking, hiking paths, beachcombing and walking trails. Real glamping experience, no power, only battery-powered lights, no running water. Bring camping supplies. Semi-private property. Polite neighbors on each side, and a couple of roaming friendly dogs in the area. (there are no fences)
Since there is no power there is no heat, the yurt is insulated but it still gets cold. Imagine tent camping. The queen size bed has a down comforter, and a warm fleece blanket made into the bed. There is also an extra queen size fleece blanket on the bed and a throw size fleece on the couch. Please bring extra blankets or sleeping bags. If an air mattress is to be used, remember to pack "bedding.” The Air mattress and pump are in the grey wicker storage by the couch. Please close both doors upon leaving the yurt. There are two latches from the inside, top, and bottom of one door. The door will lock on its own when you pull it shut. The property next to us has two friendly dogs that roam around a bit, June and Cash. Unfortunately, there are no fences but they are friendly and listen well. A true glamping experience
We absolutely loved staying at The Whimsy Willow yurt. We really enjoyed making a nice cup of coffee using the French press provided by the host while looking at the habor seals in the morning. Our dog loved playing fetch in the water and the host even has kayaks you can use! The inside of the yurt was well maintained and beautifully modern. My recommendations for improvement would be adding some bathroom spray near the composting toilet (it’s right near the bed and sometimes you can smell it) and cleaning up the property or dog poop (we packed ours out with us but I’ve seen that not all visitors have done that, or it could be the neighbor dogs that visited us a few times). Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and have talked about coming back next summer to enjoy the yurt again!
Lovely anniversary trip
The yurt was a lovely spot to celebrate an anniversary with my partner. We loved that we were able to go down to the water and kayak with a bunch of friendly seals! Definitely important to remember it IS "glamping" so make sure to bring your own battery powered lights and lanterns to brighten up the big space at night. Salena was a very responsive and communicative host which we really appreciated. We enjoyed our time so much on Vashon Island and are looking forward to our next trip there sometime in the future!
