An urban oasis & the friendliest people! How does Nicky’s listing not have any more reviews?! Her property was the third stop on my road trip from LA to NY and the experience was absolutely delightful. Nicky and company were super friendly, helpful and hospitable. She seemed more excited to host than I was to visit and even left drinks in an ice bucket as a welcome gift (I returned her generosity by refilling). They also started the fire for me! The lot is adjacent to a train so if you’re a light sleeper, remember to bring ear plugs. The lot itself was amazing - a huge open space with goats (in a cage) and a chicken coop. Her dogs are great too. Nicky told me I could help myself to eggs if they laid any in the morning. A hidden gem in a gem of a city. I will definitely be staying here again on my next road trip. Thanks Nicky!!
This place is friggen' awesome. The space is exactly as described: there is a big open space, a great fire pit, goats, chickens and a couple Real Good Boy doggos. Nicky (and George) are super amazing hosts and helped us out with a whole bunch of stuff they really didn't need to. We almost went to see Nicky sing Christmas songs she learned mere moments before but ended up getting distracted by some delicious BBQ in Wicker Park. We had no problems with the neighborhood and found it was nice and close to all sorts of cool stuff.
Great place to stay with an RV in Chicago! Nicky was a really lovely host, we were even welcomed with ice cold beer and given fresh eggs for breakfast!
Our 25ft RV fitted well into their backyard.
Nicky has been an amazing host! She is very friendly and happy to meet new people. She took care of us and shared time with us.
The place to camp is big, plenty of room to set up the tent in the garden. It is closed by a gate with locker. You have access has well to the wifi and to a bathroom on the other side of the road.
The localisation is great, 15 min by train to downtown!
Thank you Nicky, see you :-)
The Vaudeville was better than I had hoped. The location is stellar. It is close to public transportation and had good street parking as well. Nicky was a great hostess — very friendly, helpful, and awesome. We felt completely safe and secure there. The trains are close by but they didn’t bother us at all. Huge thanks to Nicky for providing a safe and fun place to stay in Chicago!
Not very camper friendly. We had to park our camper right in front of the goats and chickens which didn’t leave our front door much room to open. Very crowded.
The train tracks were right beside us which we thought was cool but just a heads up for others in case you are less than enthused about that noise.
There were also a bunch of middle school kids running around and making a lot of racket our last night there until late hours.
The hosts were cool, but wouldn’t recommend to any of my friends or family. But that may just be me being boujee.
Super friendly host. Area pretty much exactly as described and as expected. Train comes by quite a bit.( One can get used to it- my kid slept right through it!) . Had an egg in the morning and everything. Had to bug out due to weather so did not get to play much with the livestock, to the dismay of the seven-year old.
Nicky was a great host! Super kind and even gave us some ideas of places to check out in Chicago. I really enjoyed being able to camp within city limits, i definitely recommend Nicky's place if you are looking to explore chicago but not drop a ton of money on hotels.
