Schweitzer Mountain Resort is a premier ski destination located in the Selkirk Mountains near Sandpoint, Idaho. It boasts an impressive annual snowfall averaging around 300 inches, providing excellent skiing conditions throughout the season, which typically runs from early December to early April. The resort features diverse terrain, including gentle slopes for beginners, expansive groomed runs for intermediates, and challenging steeps and glades for advanced skiers. There are two terrain parks for those looking to practice their freestyle skills. Schweitzer also offers backcountry skiing opportunities for the adventurous, as well as 32 kilometers of Nordic trails for cross-country enthusiasts. While night skiing is available on select evenings, it provides a unique experience under the stars. The lift system is efficient, with a high-speed six-pack chairlift among the various lifts servicing the mountain. The views from the resort are stunning, with panoramic vistas of Lake Pend Oreille and the surrounding mountains. Schweitzer is known for being family-friendly, with a range of activities beyond skiing and snowboarding, including tubing at Hermit's Hollow Tubing Center, snowshoeing, and a variety of events throughout the season. However, the resort does not offer ice skating, snowmobiling, or sledding within its premises.
