A special place. Quiet and next to beautiful wetlands. We were in the area for leaf-peeping. Lots of birds. A short walk back into the site. The ground isn’t too flat, but it is soft and great for a smaller tent.

Camping with kids

The site is beautiful and remote! The walk to the campsite is about 8-10 minutes (and I was carrying a lot of gear and my 3 kids under the age of 8 were walking). It wasn’t a bad walk, definitely not doable with a wagon. The wheelbarrow provided would also be hard to use. We ended up only staying one night as we forgot the rain cover to our tent and there was rain in the forecast for the second day, but the kids had a great time! The stream isn’t directly at the campsite, it’s near another close campsite. The site is also large enough that it fit our huge 12 person tent just fine! I only wish there was maybe a grate for over the fire or a small table for food, but we made it all work!

Rustic and a bit of a hike

This was a fun and rustic campsite. I stayed at the Mossy spot and would highly recommend this over the Quiet spot, which looked very bumpy. I stayed here with my son, and it was a little intimidating because we were deep in the backwoods (about a 10-15 minute short hike/trail from the car)...but the morning view was so lovely and serene. I saw a recommendation to bring a wagon, so I brought an alll terrrain outdoor wagon which I was able to bring through the slightly hilly trail and only make 2 trips (took about 45mins to an hour to unpack, def not car camping). The other sites farther away are def a very longer hike from the car. I'd say this is for more of an experienced camper who enjoys being in the woods and appreciating the beauty of nature. We heard coyotes at night far away, and it was both a lil scary and mesmerizing because they howl and chant and kinda laugh in synchronicity. I have a sedan and had to drive very slowly over the rougher terrain. I would recommend not driving during the rain or at night unless you have a 4-wheel drive...but it's def doable with a sedan if you drive about 10 mph to the site. So happy we stayed here; it allowed me to discover my immense love for New Hampshire.

Awesome campsite back in the woods

Had a great time! My husband I really enjoy private primitive camping, and this was it. It was easy to find and the Communal site was big and great for tent camping. Nice flat area for our large tent. The bog area was really pretty and there were some trails where you could walk around and explore. And for those that enjoy birding also heard lots of owls and birds. The communal site is the farthest back and took about 5-10min to walk (depending on how much we were carrying). It is a very rugged trail back with hills and roots. So pack light! There is a wheelbarrow you can use if you need to, but its not necessarily easy to use on the trails. Would absolutely go back again!

Great spot! Kids had a blast catching grasshoppers in the field and minnows in the stream. Manahan beach is a good swimming option 10 minutes down the road. Caught some of the Perseus meteor shower from the field.

Amazing Campsite!!

Beautiful camping spot, a bit of a walk however it was totally worth it beautiful swimming holes around the campsite around 5-10 minutes away 100% would come back in the future!!

July 4th Weekend

Great spot! The woods and the privacy of the communal campsite was wonderful. Well maintained outhouse. Beautiful forest. Easy to get to. Durring our stay, we went swimming at Pollard Mills Falls which is half an hour north but so worth it- perfect swimming hole.

Camping with Friends Encouraged

My friends and I rented the site for the night, was great setting up camp by the fire pit. Just need to be careful of driving as the field does have some rocks/pits. Overall a fun time played some wiffle ball out in the field, and locations nearby for some fun by the water. Minimal ticks were found which was a plus

Amazing area to bird

This is a beautiful area to explore and relax. I enjoyed our trip even with the weather being so cold, rainy and 30 mile an hour wind gusts all day. My grand daughter and I had fun cooking at the fire pit and camping in the new site, the field. It was a huge area of field with trees around the edge where we set up hammocks. We had a great 4 days of birding which we saw at least 6 new Warblers and other birds. All in all it was a fun vacation and we will go back again soon.

It’s a peaceful spot, no distant highway noises, just forest and chirping. We camped at the Communal campsite which was a 10 minute walk from the parking area with slight inclines and dips, so wheeling a cooler in might be tough. The site itself felt very private, and I couldn’t see nor hear the other sites. The outhouse had toilet paper provided, and it didn’t reek. There was plenty of tinder, kindling, and larger sticks within 50ft of the site, but a shed with firewood was available for $5 cash per bundle. There was no cell signal until we were back on paved roads.

Lovely forest and loved Ryan’s benches he cut to sit around the campfire and there was a firewood shed which we didn’t end up needing to use because there was plenty of forage able wood! Doggies had a great time.

I had such a great time camping at the Quiet campsite with my sister! The trails, outhouse, and campsites are all well kept with log benches and fire pits. We heard lots of birds, frogs, and other wildlife. Lots of privacy and open woods! I’ll definitely be coming back :)

We really enjoyed tent camping at the Communal site. We easily fit 2 medium tents and one small tent into the space, and we were far enough away from other campsites that it felt private. Our 6 year old really enjoyed getting to see deer, frogs, hummingbirds, and chipmunks, and hear the owls at night. We liked exploring the woods around the campsite and the nearby creek, too. The Communal site is the furthest away from the parking situation, so the walk from the car was a little further than we planned for, maybe 10-12 minutes. Definitely wouldn't recommend anything with wheels going in - we brought a wagon to help haul stuff and it was more of a detriment than help! Not sure if this is a frequent thing, but it seemed like the neighboring property was having target practice/fireworks/ATV riding all weekend long, which could be heard clearly from where we were. We weren't bothered, but wanted to mention in case anyone is camping with a dog (or human!) who might not be able to deal well with those sort of noises. Overall, Ryan was a lovely host and the property was a really great stay. I would definitely recommend to others who enjoy rustic sites!

It was a amazing experience it was very quiet and beautiful view of the water and many trails to walk the owner was very nice and took care of the outhouse and other things in the campsite and if you like animals and reptiles this is the place for you, we saw deer, moose, frogs, water snakes also their are blueberries bushes everywhere 10/10 will come back next summer

A peaceful and magical camp

I had a great time camping at Owl’s nest. The land is full of beautiful things to see and lots to explore. We hiked into our site (Starry) just a short distance from the parking area and set up 2 small tents, 2 hammocks and our cooking table with room to spare. We were happy to find hand crafted log benches around the fire pit and loads of wood all around the area. Large Fire wood bundles were available to buy for 5 dollars as well. Starry is the larger of the single campsites and as we had need to set up 2 tents we requested to change sites from Mossy to Starry. Ryan had no problem with the last minute change which I appreciated greatly. We hiked around the trails and explored the land which has a beautiful brook with waterfalls and huge boulders. The trails are clean and well marked. While relaxing in our hammocks we heard Owls, Veery, multiple assorted warblers and many other birds. We had red squirrels check us out and while walking back from our car in the evening we got to watch a Barred Owl fly from tree to tree right in front of us. We had a peaceful and magical weekend. Ryan has an outhouse set up for all campers and it was clean, brightly lit and centrally located for the convenience of all campers. Thanks for a great weekend at your beautiful land Ryan. We would love to come back soon.

Beautiful, welcoming forest

What an incredibly welcoming forest. Walking the springy earth of the trails tracing the beautiful brook with its massive moss-covered boulders, I felt a powerful peace. Ryan has done a gorgeous job of creating inviting spaces and paths without disrupting the natural feel and flow of this land.

This spot was gorgeous! A short walk to an expansive marsh one way, and a beautiful creek the other way. Bring your bug spray and prepare to be sung to sleep by the peepers. There's not a level spot for a tent, but we made it work for our 2 night stay, just a lot of readjusting. The fire pit is small but gets the job done. The walk to the site is about 5 minutes, and a small wagon to transport things was extremely helpful. I'd stay here again!

Blueberry campsite

Ryan has several great little spots setup along a walking trail. All secluded from each other with enough room for a tent and then some. There was a nice stream running along the site as well. It was an amazing spot.

Amazing host, land, and animals!

We LOVED our trip here! The entire property is gorgeous, and Ryan (the host) has spent a lot of time creating comfortable and beautiful campsites as well as a trail that leads to the brook on his property. Ryan himself was kind, informative, and welcoming. He walked us down the trail to the brook even though his foot was in a boot due to an injury! He even lent us some cooking supplies that we forgot to pack. We saw so many birds (woodpeckers, egrets, and heard owls all night), frogs, deer, etc. The marsh and waterfall nearby were also so beautiful. Definitely recommend coming here and we would consider coming again!
