Maine Oceanfront Island Campsites
Solitude and Bliss
My husband and I stayed on site one with our two kids, 16 and 11. As it was a weeknight, we had the whole island to ourselves, which we found really exciting. Our experience was magical -- I will never forget the sunset the first night. It was really cool for our kids (and us!) to learn about the tides and how they affect water navigation. We loved site 1, but you can't go wrong with any of them. Pack minimally if you can! It took us two canoe trips to get our gear over, which was fine, as the trips are short (less than 10min each way). Patrick on staff was incredibly kind and helpful. Thanks Flood's Cove for an experience we'll treasure. I'd love to come back and stay longer. Two nights weren't enough!

Amazing campsite
This is a long review, but I wanted to offer a few tips. These campsites were amazing and the family was incredibly hospitable. The family has owned the island for many generations and they show great care in every detail of the operation. We rearranged our hiking itinerary just to stay longer. The campsites are some of the best I’ve ever visited and I’ve been to many different places around the world. Since I have nothing but praise, I’ll offer a few discoveries that would be easy to miss or not know unless you’ve been. 1) Plan your arrival around the tides. At high tide you can take the short route straight across the cove to the campsite landing, but it is not passable at low tide. You have to go all the way around the island. It’s a beautiful paddle has we later experienced), but not enjoyable if you arrived mistime the tides and are racing against the setting sun and a looming storm as we did. 2) You can’t go wrong with any site but 8, 6, and 3 are the best in my opinion. 3) Hike to the end of the island (past campsite 8). There is a rocky point that is fun to explore and since it faces south you can look west and east to experience sunrise and sunset that will not disappoint. 4) there is a screened gazebo right before you get to the lookout in tip 3. It’s a cool place to hangout, but easy to miss. 5) If you need extra food, supplies, a made to order sandwich, wi-fi , etc., head to Wallace’s. It’ another great family run operation in town, Ultimately this was a fantastic site (we stayed on 3), and would highly recommend!

Secluded woodland Getaway
Just the right level of adventure. Canoeing off the mainland onto a beautiful quiet and secluded island. The site itself is basic but has everything you need with eco toilets and camp fire place. Running water is just a short paddle away. Exploring neighboring islands by canoe was a joy and the evenings were not too cold in the summer.
