This is a small, family-run property in the early stages of building something bigger, an adult art retreat and creative campground. For now, we welcome guests who want simple, quiet time on the land, whether that is pitching a tent under the hardwoods, parking an RV, or staying in our vintage 1973 camper, the ScandiFAN.
With almost no light pollution out here, the night sky opens up in a way most people rarely see anymore. By day, the hardwoods carry a steady breeze through camp, and you will likely spot several species of butterflies drifting through, Monarchs included. Cedar, Stone and Clay — The ScandiFAN
Stay in our 1973 F.A.N. camper, tucked into 1.99 wooded acres just outside Bedford, Indiana, the Limestone Capital of the World, about 30 minutes from Indiana University in Bloomington.
This little trailer has history. It was originally purchased in western New York by a doctor who used it on hunting trips, then spent years logging thousands of miles with us across the Northeast, Midwest, and northern Florida, including trips to Lake Placid and a stay in Liberty Harbor near New York City, before settling into its permanent home here. We replaced the original white and yellow mustard exterior with a soft cream paint scheme, and reworked the interior around a calm, simple Scandinavian feel. We lovingly call it the ScandiFAN, our one room Scandinavian cabin on wheels.
The ScandiFAN sleeps up to 4. The couch pulls out into a queen-size bed suitable for 2 adults, and the front dinette converts into a double bed, a good fit for a close couple or 2 kids. There is electricity on site, but this is still a dry camp experience: no running water. We no longer use the propane stove and have supplied a Cuisinart 4-in-1 oven for cooking. The bathroom is functional but primitive, with the factory toilet available for liquid waste and a portable toilet provided for solid waste. For your safety, the ScandiFAN is equipped with a smoke detector, a carbon monoxide detector, and a fire extinguisher.
