A Notch Above-RV Riverside Campsite

This was such a peaceful spot — I had the whole place to myself! Communication with the host was quick and easy, and they were very helpful. I’d definitely recommend arriving during the day, as the driveway can be a little tricky to spot at night and it’s fairly steep. Once settled in, we had a wonderful time by the river and enjoyed the gorgeous fall colors. Highly recommend!

Georgous place! Perfect place to relax and unwind. We stayed here in October and enjoyed the fall colors on the Ohio River which were beautiful. The sites are perfect for boat and barge watching. Randy is super. He was attentive to all our needs. This is my new favorite campground. We will be back.

We had an amazing time at A Notch Above. It was us and our friends at the site next to us. It was perfect for buddy camping. We had sites 2 and 3. Our campers faced the river and ir was a beautiful view. We were fortunate enough to see multiple bald eagles and many other birds. Watching the different barges and boats mo e up and down the river was another nice thing about camping at Randy's place. Randy is a very nice, helpful host. I would definitely recommend A Notch Above if you are looking for scenic views and relaxation.

Love watching boats on the river.

The site was very level and spacious. The firepit was located right by the river. We sat there every night with a fire and watched the barges go by. My only negative was the septic hookup. I have never delt with one that was sideways out of the ground. It backed up and leaked gray tank water all over so I was not able to completely empty my tank.

What a great location and beautiful site. The entrance looks tricky but worked out perfectly. We enjoyed the river, bardges, bald eagles and looking at the stars. Some things to note the road behind you is close and there is some road noise but it didn't bother us. There is a porta potty on site in the middle but it was clean and did not smell. Randy was available when needed and even checked in to make sure we arrived ok. Will return

Woke up to beautiful views and peaceful water. Didn’t get to meet the host in person, but even through a few short texts, the vibe was good and everything was easy. Level pads, firewood was there for us. No hassles, just a smooth stop along the way to Kentucky. Would absolutely stay again if I’m ever lucky to venture these streets again.

Really enjoyed this location. Very clean and well maintained. The parking pads and hookups all appeared to be brand new. Right on the water with spectacular views, including sunsets and sunrises. Very relaxing. Stayed there 4th of July weekend, and had awesome views of the fireworks up and down the river. Large fire pit that I would have enjoyed using it it wasn't so hot out. Host was very responsive after booking.

It was a great time despite the rain. Peaceful, relaxing and even cought a few fish. Only negative is we got hung up a lot and lost a lot of fishing supplies, lol. But that is no reflection on the site/owner. Would recommend!

This site is so relaxing and the sunsets are beautiful. When its dark it's a glow on the water that makes mysterious a whole vibe. We was the only ones there so it was peaceful. The concrete pads are level and a nice size made setting up super easy. Randy was there but gave us our space which we appreciated that. Definitely a nice quick getaway for us, we'll definitely be back for sure!!!

What a great weekend! Our group rented out all 3 sites. It was clean and well maintained. Sites were level. The views were outstanding! Randy was great too. We would definitely recommend.

Being on the river was nice. I would stay there just one or two nights at the most. The road is directly next to the campsites. There is an outhouse/port a John next to the river right in front of the sites. This should be moved so it isnt in your view of the river.

The portajohn was in the middle of the view of the river and disgusting (need to be cleaned/emptied). There was only 1/2 a picnic table available for use. The views are of the river were amazing!

Owner is super responsive and friendly! The entrance is a bit steep, but doable. The sites are level and the hookups are very well designed. Great views as well!

November 2024 camping.....Randy was very responsive and kind. Great for a weekend get away, grandkids loved the barges, shells, and campfire. Area is not like a campground, (no trails or hiking) but fun. Bet it's great in summer to put in a kayak! Very nice having a concrete pad. Make sure your items are very secure before pulling a camper up or down the steep drive, I had a jar shift and break but it was on me for not securing. Looks of the drive can be intimidating, but it was no problem getting in or out. Very close to main road but road was not excessively busy.

It’s a very nice well kept location right on the river bank. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Low traffic road close but super quiet all night. Will go back again.

What a beautifully awesome campsite. Right off The Ohio River, I could barely leave my seat. So cool watching the different boats and barges float by. Oh yeah and the host were great. There for anything I needed. I would highly recommend.

Relaxing stay. Enjoyed 2 nights, it was dark and quiet. We even enjoyed watching the Perseid Meteor shower right from our spot. Randy gave us great directions beforehand. Could've done without the porta potty right in the middle but understand some people might like that feature. The view and relaxation would bring us back.

Great view of Ohio river, fun to watch the occasional barge go up or down the river. Well maintained site, very level, just park and plug in. Not much traffic noise considering closeness of the road as it is minimally traveled.

Beautiful property on the Ohio Rive

What a lovely property! The host had a stack of wood ready for us to enjoy the beautiful evening on the Ohio River. We watched boats and barges pass by on the river. It’s an absolutely lovely spot to stay an evening or a week. My kids enjoyed fishing in the river. My teens enjoyed visiting with a friend. The porta potty was very clean. Hookups were as advertised and the pad was level. The property access was steeper than I realized. Unfortunately we had a visitor that slid off the driveway and needed to be towed out. I would not recommend this property for anyone with a small front wheel drive vehicle. Take it slow and any four wheel drive vehicle can access. If the steep access does not scare you, this Hip Camp is one you don’t want to miss!! Thank you for your hospitality Randy.
