Wonderful (and windy) Experience!

My daughter and I stayed in the fall, the lake was closed to boating and fishing for bird migration and it was absolutely amazing to hear and see the thousands of birds!! That isn't even why we picked the location, but it was a wonderful bonus to the giant site and clean campground. Be warned, it was VERY windy being at the end of the peninsula, we have upgraded stakes so we didn't lose our 4 season tent or my winter equipped hammock, but we could have ... If we didn't have the proper gear. I would love to come back each season to experience taking our kayak out on the lake and to be able to fish. Highly recommend this camp and site!

Beautiful place! We stayed at site 36, which felt very private. We arrived after sunset (our mistake, since the site suggested coming before dusk), so setting up was a bit tricky, but the starry sky was incredible. Danika’s quick replies were super helpful. Overall, very happy with our stay!

I love this campground but this was the first time I stayed at this site. The site was Perfect. We spent nearly the whole time on the water in kayaks we rented from Danika. We cannot wait to come back. The site is spacious and the fire pit is positioned perfectly for the view. The birds are one of our favorite parts! Don’t forget binoculars. Also, I nice plus is that Danika sells wood for a reasonable price and has it delivered right to your site.

The place is very nice. We had the end site and it gave us privacy. The view of the sunset is magnificent from the park. We also did a 7.6 mile loop hike around the area. Good weekend. The only thing is the noise from the train at night, otherwise it was a perfect weekend of camping, eating, and enjoying nature. Big thanks to the host!

We loved camping here! Danica and James were so helpful, and they even offered us to switch to a different site that was unoccupied which had a better lake view. We loved the camp store, and they were stocked with essentials that were helpful in case we forgot anything. We plan on returning since we had so much fun!

I really enjoyed myself camping with my dog at Danika and Jame’s land! They were both very good hosts. I was able to stargaze around the fire after watching a long beautiful sunset. While in my tent at night, looking over the water, I could stargaze from there also. The sites are spread out enough that you can have privacy also. I always like being able to pull my car right up to the site also.

Danika was an exceptional host who went out of her way to make my son, dad and me feel welcome. The camp site was clean, well maintained and pictureseque. I was also surprised by the facilities which included canoe rentals, an outdoor shower (which was actually quite pleasant) and a cooling house with games and icecream inside! Overall a very pleasant stay.

Tiny House Glamping Cabin

Loved tenting here! Definitely a great place, access to water and porta-potties were easy, loved the view of the lake, owners were super helpful! Helpful to know if you're going that there are train tracks nearby and a train ran through both nights we were there in the middle of the night. You can hear car traffic and other distant trains as well, but it's not too bad. But really we loved our stay here and would come again!

Unique experience

My 12-year-old granddaughter and I enjoyed it very much. It was quiet, unique, close to bike trail and most importantly beautiful natural surroundings of the Mississippi river area.

Great big site for our weekend camping trip! Danika was very helpful and responsive, there was some flooding before we arrived and we were taken care of with a backup site not far away that was dry and perfect. Would definitely recommend to those looking for camping in the area with peaceful views and good proximity to some nice hiking!

We stayed here from July 11 to July 13. On the first day, it was raining, and we were kindly allowed to switch our campsite. We chose site 35 (originally had 32). The spot is located on the peninsula, and everything around was beautiful. We had a peaceful stay all three days, managed to catch some fish, and also went on a short 15-minute drive to a hiking spot with a stunning view of the Mississippi River.

Connecting with nature

Site # 4 (36) at Vintage Crystal Lake Campground is the largest, most private site I’ve ever had. Set at the tip of a peninsula, it’s surrounded by nature—birds, frogs, and turtles everywhere, and surprisingly, almost no mosquitoes. There’s a perfect mix of sun and shade, and the site is easy to access. The outdoor shower was a highlight - it felt like something out of Bali, with plenty of hot water. It’s a remote site, so a nearby water tap would be helpful, but the seclusion is worth it. Despite feeling off the grid, mobile service was strong. You will hear a train horn now and then, but it’s a small tradeoff for the peaceful setting. The campground is just minutes from downtown Savanna and local state parks, making it easy to reach while still feeling far from it all. The owners were friendly and checked in daily, which made the stay even more comfortable. If you want space, privacy, and true immersion in nature, this site is a gem. Did I mention the sunsets? Well, go see yourself!

Tiny House Glamping Cabin

An absolute gem just minutes away from the Palisades and great for tent camping on a peninsula of the Mississippi River/South Spring Lake. Great birdwatching and wildlife spotting! I only wish the weather had been more cooperative during my stay! Would love to come back with our travel trailer someday!

Tiny house for the win

Really great little spot right off Spring Lake. The tiny house was really cute, clean, and nicely organized. A cute spot tucked away from the rest of the camp and short walk to camp store. Camp store was nice and we rented kayaks. Having a warm clean shower (attached to the camp store) was a real treat. Really cool the great river bike trail runs directly through camp store

Spacious and beautiful campsite

This campsite was right at the end of the peninsula, it was very spacious and beautiful. This campsite was far enough from the other campsites to feel mostly private. Also a very safe environment as it was a lot of families with kids. We had a great time!

Tent camping on Danika's land was an amazing time, she’s super hospitable and has the most convenient camp shop. Renting a kayak from her was easy and super fun and she gave great information about a local fishing spot where me and my family caught a bunch of fish. Would love to camp here again. The outdoor shower was so cute and one of my fav moments.
