Lake Taylorville, a hidden gem just three miles south of Taylorville, Illinois, spans an impressive 1,200 acres and has been a cherished destination since its establishment in 1962. This picturesque lake serves as the primary source of water for the City of Taylorville while also offering a wealth of recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike. The area boasts two public parks, Optimist Park and Kiwanis Park, which are perfect for picnicking and family gatherings. A public beach invites guests to enjoy swimming and sunbathing, while camping is available from April 1st to October 31st. Outdoor enthusiasts can take advantage of nearly year-round boating and fishing opportunities. For those seeking a cozy stay, the lake features four cabins available for rent, along with approximately 373 lake lots and 95 permanent campsites available for annual lease. Additionally, there are 12 overnight campsites equipped with water and electricity, as well as five tent campsites for a more rustic experience. At the Marina, visitors will find convenient amenities, including a laundry facility with a washer and dryer located within the Marina building.
