A small rural farm tucked away in the beautiful black oak savanna prairie ecosystem. The farm features several acres of native prairie restoration, along with hiking trails in nearby woods. The campsite is set within the prairie restoration area along a wooded edge — a perfect location for those seeking starlit Midwest skies, the sounds of native birds and wildlife, and scenic views throughout their stay. Located about 30 minutes from town, you’ll have easy access to major stores via all paved roads while still escaping the hustle and bustle of urban life. Enjoy a fresh country experience in this beautiful part of Illinois, once part of the historic Grand Kankakee River Valley Marshland. A fire pit is provided at the campsite, with firewood included in your fee.Site is located in totally serene prairie for acres in multiple directions. You’ll have plenty of room to stretch out and pitch your tent in a roughly 30’ x 30’ mowed area I keep for guests. To one side there’s a corn field, to the other my woods. In between, just prairie and wildlife. Go to bed to the sites of the stars ✨ 🌟 💫 and wake up to the sound of singing birds 🐦. Feel refreshed getting back to nature in the countryside! The farm itself has mowed paths throughout the prairie and some more rustic woodland paths for you to get a morning walk in. You can also enjoy many local hiking sites just minutes away from the campsite where you can explore native Illinois dunes, see real life bison 🦬 and witness some of the most pristine black oak savanna ecosystem alive on the planet today.
