Landers Brewing Co is like a fabulous time warp. We had the best time there!
Absolutely fell in love with the place. The trip was worth it for the bar alone, seemingly risen up out of nowhere in the middle of the desert with the most amazing characters, like a very pleasant Twilight Zone.
Also nearby within 15-20 minutes drive are Giant Rock (research the history & Van Tassel/Nikola Tesla etc if you're into that awesomeness) , Integratron, Pioneertown, etc.
We had a freaking blast exploring the area.

Don’t do it. Just some dirt outside of a bar. “People usually just crash here when they are too drunk to go home.” “WOW I’ve never seen this during the day, it’s pretty rough.” They just acquired 5 acres for some concert in the future but who knows. Oh and there is no way of communicating with the host, no phone, even though it’s a bar. GOOD LUCK
Feels like paying for something as a tourist then finding out it’s free. I miss my $25.

Great camp site! Beautiful view of the valley and awesome night sky. Phil is easy going. The camp site sits lower so it's safe from winds and has tables and chairs and fire pit makes it great experience for fun experience with family!

We arrived at the Landing Zone on a windy weekend and found Phil in Landers Brew, which is right by the spot we camped. He showed us the fire pit, which is down a little hill to protect it from the wind. It was too windy to have a fire, but it looked like a nice set-up. He showed us the toilet closet, which was in good shape, but did have trouble flushing multiple times because it is a gravity toilet. He was quick to fix it when we told him.
We camped in our car since it was very windy and felt that Phil and the bartenders looked out for us. The bar is open till at least 12a on the weekends, which we found nice since we could get a beer and not have to drive anywhere. The lights stay on and people drive out, which might not be ideal for everyone. What we, two women, appreciated most was the staff was discreet about the fact we were camping there. They checked in with us about the site, but made sure no one in the bar could hear that we were staying on the property. We liked it and would come back when it was a little warmer and less windy, but it's a beautiful spot to see the stars and hear the coyotes howl.

He did not give us a truthful description of the place. He advertised that the site had drinkable water and a toilet. There was no water and the toilet was broken. Those are two pretty significant things to consider when deciding on where to camp. He was also not available to show us where the actual camp site was. We had to figure it out on our own. I will never spend my money on this camp site again. However, the bar next door was cool.

This was the most unique camping experience I've ever had. It's twenty feet from a great bar and is a do-whatever-you-want type of campsite. It's a great alternative to camping in Joshua Tree itself. The site itself is a series of small hills and valleys, and everyone pitched their tent on the high spots, but in retrospect, I think camping in the mini-valleys might have been a better idea to keep the wind at bay (made cooking tough) and the sound from the band playing to a minimum.
At the bar you'll find wi-fi, pool tables, a modern jukebox, a pinball machine, friendly staff, Brownie the most chill dog ever, and of course lots of beer (no hard alcohol).
My only complaint would be that there needs to be more than one fire pit.
I'd stay here again if the campsites in Joshua Tree were full again.

I had an absolute blast at The Landing Zone! Great space, close to JTNP, fantastic star coverage, etc. Perhaps my favorite part was spending time around the fire pit with everyone else at the campsite. Everyone there had never used HipCamp before and had no idea what to expect. We had a great time - would absolutely go back!

Such a cool place to set up camp as an alternative to being in the park. We met so many cool people around the fire pit and it was relatively easy to get situated. I would definitely recommend Philip's place.

The Landing Zone
A perfect alternative to staying in JT National Park, or an adventure all its own. Hosts are awesome, make sure you’re set up but give you your space.
Lander’s Brewery is actually on the property, so you can camp and still be secluded or hop on over for a drink, live music, a game of pool. It quiets down early, and there are a few spots to camp (tent or trailer), do don’t let that deter you.
Small desert town, don’t expect anything fancy - but it’s good people, scattered Joshua trees, pet friendly and a spot you feel safe with that has a few extras. Worked perfect woh our trailer, a group of 6 plus a kid and dog. Felt ok leaving our stuff out all day when we headed out.
20 mins from JT National Forest and 10 mins from nearest towns. I’d recommend it, and hope to go back myself.

The Landing Zone
Landing Zone was an awesome place to camp! When it's high season in Joshua Tree and there are few campsites you can book ahead, this gave us nice reassurance we would have a place to land...no pun in intended. Phillip was a wonderful host and was very accommodating. Also, it's fun being so close to Lander's Brew so you can end your day of hiking with an ice cold locally brewed beer and listen to live music. I would definitely come back again. Pro Tip: Bring earplugs no matter where you camp as there are coyotes that sometimes howl at night.

The Landing Zone was an adventure. Philip was a great host, and even bought us a beer! The site is a walk up, which worked OK for this trip, but if your planning on sleeping in your car could be a problem. It's also stumbling distance from the Lander Brewing Company, essentially tucked in a dune just past the parking lot. The LBC had great music and a lively friendly crowd, that could all be heard from the campsite. We were lulled to sleep by a Celtic-Ska fusion band the night we stayed. All of this should not be a deal breaker for adventurous campers or people looking for some high desert shenanigans. It's a great launching off point to explore some of the other attractions in Landers, like giant rock, or the Intergratron. We had a great time at the LBC, but the heat chased us out of tents bright and ugly, so we didn't test the if the stove worked or not.

Only the most adventurous and brew loving need apply!
Phillip was amazing! So welcoming and friendly. He had the site all ready for our arrival and was on hand to pour a brew at Landers Brew Co just a short walk away. The site had a firepit, a stove, tables and soft chairs so we didn't even have to pack half our gear! We camped on a Saturday and were able to meet some of the friendliest locals and listen to some great live music. The site was still quiet enough that our kids slept soundly. Being only 20 minutes from Pioneertown and Joshua Tree National Park, this site is a perfect spot for fun-loving families.
All around, an adventurous and fun little site! We will definitely be back for our next trip to the desert!

The Landing Zone
The site was awesome, and Philip was very friendly and helpful! The tent camping spot sits in a low lying area, so it's protected from the wind. There are some chairs and tables in the site, which give plenty of space for cooking, eating, etc. You're right next to the Landers Brew Co., which has great beer on tap and lots of friendly locals! The site was still very quiet though, and we all slept great! Only about 20 mins from the Joshua Tree NP entrance, and close to the Pioneer Village and other local attractions. We'll definitely stay here again!
