Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Come see the awesome ghost town of Keeler and take a ride up the hill to see Cerro Gordo!A site in the middle of a ghost town. You can park your self-contained RV. You will park near the telephone pole. Please do not poke holes in the carpet, but rather on the backside where the dirt is or the seams of the carpet. You must be self-contained and have your own toilet facility in your rig. There is an empty bus at the “campsite”. Feel free to wander in and look around, and it is available for shelter if you need to get out of the elements; but it is not set up for camping. The area: The property owners live on one adjacent lot and there is another adjacent lot on the other side that is empty but overgrown. There is an empty house in front and a train car with one neighbor on the backside. Another neighbor lives in a single wide trailer catty corner to the “campsite”. The town of Keeler has some pretty cool historical sites!!! There is a train depot, an old talc mill, historic fire station, abandoned swimming pool, an old school house (but someone lives there so please don’t bother them) and an old auto body shop and historic market next-door. People also live in those places so please don’t wander through the property. Just view from the road. The historic town of Cerro Gordo is 8 miles up the hill if you have an all-terrain vehicle to drive up there. There are beautiful views of the Sierras and the Inyo Mountains all around and gorgeous star gazing at night.
