50 acres hosted by Sean And Danielle L.

Welcome to Red Gate Farm, LLC, a farm with a vision! We previously ran a very successful Hipcamp site at our previous property, but completely relocated and are starting fresh! We purchased 50 acres of GORGEOUS timbered property, with rolling forested hills, several creeks, trees towering over 100 feet tall, and abundant wildlife. It's absolutely perfect for Hipcamp! Building a new farm (and Hipcamp program) from scratch takes time--years even, but we decided now is as a good a time as any to share our beautiful timber with Hipcampers looking for some peace and privacy. While the site itself will be groomed and set up as listed, the surrounding grass won't be perfectly green yet, there will still be a lot of dead-wood and natural debris around the sites, and trails are a bit rough and uneven. If you can overlook the "rustic" aspects though, and enjoy the beauty of the peace and quiet of just enjoying nature, as it has sat unmanaged for roughly 50 years around the sites, then you are likely to love every moment! If you desire more adventure than just hanging around and enjoying nature, be sure to check out the additional experiences we offer here on the farm, as well as the entire surrounding area. Southern IL is made up of the Shawnee National Forest and multiple state parks and recreational areas. You can find a wide variety of activities to keep you busy! Even the local towns have much to offer, whether you enjoy fine dining, casual restaurants, antique shopping, or a nice theater production.

Great remote site. Make sure you have a wagon or lifted vehicle [4wd] the path there has some steep hills and can be slick if wet. Site is awesome great campfire set up and a nice rugged bathroom too. If you love the outdoors and aren't strictly a glamper this is a great location.

It is very secluded, it really felt very private. Also the campsite is all set up, and Sean helped us carry our stuff over

Favorite Hipcamp Experience to Date
This was our favorite Hipcamp experience to date! My husband, two young kids, & I had so much fun staying at the Cedar Ridge glamping site. The compost toilet, space heater (we rented from Sean and Danielle), sitting area, picnic table, etc. made for a perfect level of comfort to have young kids. There’s a small hike in, but we just loaded up our heavy duty wagon and brought everything in that way. We set up an additional cot, and found some trees perfect for hanging our hammocks and we felt right at home. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. We also did the nearby Giant City Nature Trail (about 1 mile in length), but there were several other local options.

Beautiful area and wonderful site. Sean and Danielle met us and guided us to our site, covered all the unique elements of the area and set us up for a great time. Would highly recommend staying here.

Glamping worth experiencing!
Sean and Danielle could not have been more welcoming to their Hipcamp site. They are lovely people and incredibly helpful. Cedar Ridge was the perfect glamping spot. This tent was roomy and comfortable and it slept 5 of us with lots of room to spare. There is a gorgeous, very large handmade picnic table and a fire ring surrounded by Adirondack chairs. All we had to do was light a match as the kindling and wood were in place and ready to go. There is a five minute walk to the campsite, but it is up and down and an uneven surface, so get there before sunset and wear sturdy shoes. The site was so comfortable that we barely left it despite plans to hike. The small town, Creal Springs, is five minutes away should you need anything and we were lucky enough to be there during their Wonder Waters Festival which as a treat. Sugar Creek Cafe is a must also.
