We are a small homestead/farm just outside Temecula Valley Wine Country in California. Primarily we raise our mini dairy goats and host BYO Tent or RV camping. In October of 2016 we began our journey to create our small farm/homestead. With absolutely no experience and coming from a tiny condo in the city we decided to leave that life behind and buy 11 acres in the middle of no where! We weren't sure what to do with 11 acres. We don't come from a farming family but we had the drive to learn. With the help of YouTube, books, blogs, vlogs and friendly neighbors we began to teach ourselves how to run a small farm, inching into the lifestyle a little at a time. We started off with 15 chickens, many failed gardens and then fell in love with Nigerian Dwarf Goats! We found Hipcamp over a year later and in April 2018 opened up our home to strangers wanting to camp on private property. Since we are in the middle of Temecula Wine Country we figure that our farm is the perfect family friendly environment to relax in nature but still be close to some great attractions. Play with baby goats, chickens and rabbits. Explore the property and star gaze at night without light pollution from the city! This was an empty lot that was first purchased in 2014. We are the second owners of the property and want to be as self sustaining as possible. We are on a well and have converted to solar power. We will be building up the camp sites as well, gradually adding more amenities as we go to create a unique experience for our guests. More about me: I had a great and successful career at a very large CPA firm in San Diego but with city living comes pressure and stress. Due to deadlines and even more stress created by the partners of the firm, I ignored what my body was telling me. I put off going to the doctor for months telling myself I didn't have time and, after this next deadline I'll get a check up. I knew that I needed to change my lifestyle but I wasn't doing it fast enough. We closed escrow on the property in October of 2016 and that November I was in the ER. I almost died. Spent my birthday and Thanksgiving in the hospital. Soon after that I quit my job at the CPA firm and started working from home. Still suffering from complications, that summer in June/July I ended up in the ER again. Even closer to death this time. Since then I've turned around my health. Focused on life on the farm. Raising my animals, my garden and creating a unique experience with the campers. I enjoy sharing this life and my home with like-minded people who want to escape the city and feel a little closer to nature. There are pros-cons to each site. There are no tables/chairs at the sites. Tables/chairs are provided in the common areas. THERE IS NO SHADE AT THE SITES, so no, you won't be able to hang a hammock at your site. There is a hammock in the common area by the house and patio. SITE 1 is behind the hill and cannot be seen from the house/common area. It is in a field on the North side of the property. You can drive to this and park at the site. There is no shade. It is not close to the bathroom. It is flat enough for a trailer (with levelers) or RV but for DRY CAMPING ONLY. There are no hookups. You can see the road from this site. If you have a big party (more than 8 people) you will want to book site 1 AND 2. They are closest together and are hidden from the rest of the property. There is plenty of room to spread out between these sites for multiple tents. You will be able to see other campers. This is the plain desert. While there are hills and some privacy with distance between the sites, you will be able to see each other.

There should be plenty of room to turn around. If you need help/spotting ask. After 4 years, 1 person took out a site marker and 1 person took out a solar light.... if they were unsure, they should have asked for a spotter (me). Hundreds of campers and 2 accidents. It wasn't the placement of the marker/solar light.
Surface levelness: Requires leveling

What to expect
RV/tent site
You'll have this Hipcamp all to yourself.

Campfires allowed
Firepit. You can use the charcoal grill in the common area. (BYO Charcoal or I sell it for $10/bag) You can use propane stoves or propane fire pits at your campsite if you choose to bring one. You can check out a portable fire pit when you check in. I don't charge for the fire pits. It is illegal for me to build permanent fire pits at the individual sites in this county. If you check out a fire pit you also have to check out a fire extinguisher to be used in case of emergency only (not to put out your fire. If you use the fire extinguisher and it was not an emergency you will be charged $50) If there are high winds and a risk of sparks spreading you must put out the fire immediately. NOT with the fire extinguisher. You can do this with water or dirt. I have a shovel you can borrow or buckets to put water in. I can ask you to extinguish your fire at any time for any reason I choose. It's my property. NEVER leave the fire unattended or go to sleep with the fire burning. If I witness this your fire pit will be removed from your site and you will be asked to leave. No refunds. NEVER build the fire up higher than the walls of the fire pit. DO NOT dump the ashes out at your site when you return the fire pit. Leave the ashes in the fire pit. Once I make sure they are out I add the ashes to our compost. DO NOT build a fire ring or create a fire other than in one of my fire pits. If you do you will be asked to leave. Fire safety is a community effort. I live in a community that takes this very seriously. I appreciate that you do as well so that I can continue to offer this campers.
Toilet available
Composting toilet. This is a 5 gallon bucket with a clip-on toilet seat, biodegradable bags and "Poo Powder". You are responsible for disposal of the "deposit." There is a hand washing station with soap provided. Step 1: Do your business. Step 2: Put in a scoop of the "Poo Powder." (This deodorizes and solidifies any liquid waste. This also prevents the spread of e coli and other bacteria/viruses) Step 3: Un-clip the toilet seat. Tie the bag closed securely and throw it away in the bin provided. Step 4: Be polite and replace the bag for the next user and clip the seat back on. Step 5: Wash your hands. BE ADVISED: There will be a $25 fee charged if hosts have to dispose of your waste. It is a $25 fee per incident. Even if the person booking the site didn't leave it, you are responsible for everyone in your party. Please be respectful of the hosts and other campers and let all of your guests know of the rules. I do clean/sanitize all touchable surfaces in the bathroom multiple times a day with Clorox wipes. A spray bottle of bleach/water mix and paper towels are also provided in the bathroom if needed.
Pets allowed
On leash. Well behaved, quiet, and non-aggressive pets are allowed on leash. I have water bowls in the common areas for the fur babies. We love dogs. Yes these rules apply to even the perfectly trained dog. If you let your dog loose, even at 5am when you think everyone is asleep, you will be asked to leave. No refunds. You must clean up after your pet. It seems like we are in the middle of nowhere but we aren't. Other campers will check in after you and will not appreciate piles of dog poop.
Potable water available
Hose, pump or well, bottled water or jugs. You have access to the hose connected to our well in multiple locations but not at the site. The water is potable. It's the same water that we drink. We also have cold bottled water available for purchase. $1/bottle.
Bins available
Trash bin. There is a dumpster at the end of the driveway beside the chicken coop and the bathroom.
Picnic table present
We have tables and chairs available in the common area by the house. Not at the sites. You can use the BBQ grill in the common area.
Wifi available
WIFI password is given during check in. The Wifi is ONLY available in the common areas and does not reach to the camping area though there is reception for Verizon and AT&T in some areas of the property. It can be spotty.
No showers
Cooking equipment absent
There is a charcoal grill available in the common area. DO NOT use firewood in the charcoal grill. If you do not have charcoal, you can purchase some from us. Marcella's farm offers a delightful camping experience with attentive hosting and spacious sites. Campers appreciated the chance to interact with charming baby goats and enjoyed unique amenities like a hot tub and a solar shower. The farm's scenic views and serene environment, dotted with wildflowers and starlit skies, were frequently praised. While most reviews were positive, some noted noise from nearby roads and events, suggesting that locations further from the common area might provide a quieter stay.
