This easy to access camp is right between Lake Alice and Lake Maloya, the latter boasting an on site equestrian facility. There are only a few designated horse corrals available for camping, so consider reserving in advance so you can have a worry free getaway for you and your hooved companion.

We are located only 3 minutes from I-25, 15 minutes from Fisher’s Peak (Colorado's newest and second-largest state park), and 10 minutes from Trinidad Lake State Park. We currently have goats, pigs, rabbits, chickens, and ducks on-site, located away from the tent area. You are able to feed and pet some of the animals as part of your stay. Located between La Veta and Cuchara on the Scenic Highway of Legends enjoy over one acre to call your own. Resting next to the Cucharas River, the flat meadow is perfect for parking your RV while you enjoy views of the surrounding mountain range. You are under a five minute drive to Cuchara Main Street and just over a ten minute drive to the quaint town of La Veta. Fishing is available at many of the nearby lakes including Bear Lake, Blue Lake, North Lake, Monument Lake, Daigre Lake, and Wahatoya Lake. Many hiking and biking trails are also in the area. Or you can visit Lathrop State Park in Walsenburg just over 30 minutes away where you can paddle board, hike, or fish. The Great Sand Dunes National Park is just one hour from this location! It is a perfect central parking spot for all of your Southern Colorado outdoor adventures while coming home to peace and serenity. The eastern boundary of this property is the Cucharas River and we own to the center point of the river. We ask that you stay within the boundaries shown on the map. Reservations up to five days max, we may allow an extended stay upon request. We do not offer any restrooms so we require you must have an RV with your own facilities. No fires permitted on property. Fisher's Peak Ranch is a private community with 2 access gates. The rental camp site is approximately 3 miles into the ranch from the gate. The first 2 miles are well maintained ranch roads, with the last leg climbing up to the top of my 35 acre ranch. Most of the year the road is fine, but heavy snow or rain has required a 4 wheel drive at times. You'll be overlooking the city of Trinidad, with an extremely stunning view of Fisher's Peak. Enjoy complete privacy as the site is on the end of a dedicated road. From the camp site, you'll be looking down at Simpsons Rest and the entire city of Trinidad. To the south, you can see parts of Raton Pass. Watch the clouds light up with the sunsets. You'll be taking lots of pictures, everyone does.

There is also 1 dry camping spot and you can use water and dump on site. There are 35 acres to hike and watch wildlife. We are a short 5 min drive to Lathrop and into Walsenburg. There is a 200 ft elevation hike to enjoy beautiful views of the Spanish Peaks and Cuchara river valley. Be on the look out for elk, deer, turkey and more.
