Timber Canyon is a primitive campground just a short walk to Lake Scott. This oasis in western Kansas is a small, 100-acre lake surrounded by rolling grassy hills, woodlands of willow and cottonwood, and craggy bluffs. Anglers can try their luck at catching rainbow trout, and boaters can rent a canoe or paddleboat here. History buffs won’t want to miss the American Indian pueblo ruins or old sandstone residence built at the turn of the 20th century. This unique and captivating setting might have you thinking, “we’re not in Kansas anymore.” But you would be wrong. Very, very wrong.

Learn more about this land:Sheridan wildlife area is 3/4 mile north for hiking and wildlife (deer, turkey, bird watching) viewing. coffee bar, brewery, antiques, and groceries within 5 miles.  At the campsite, numerous yard games are available with a campfire in the centrally located pit, weather permitting. Corrals and barn are available for the livestock haulers, kennels are available for dogs. Experience tranquility in this open country setting. Please use the directions I give, NOT GOOGLE. Thanks.
