The best time to visit Blawhorn Moss National Nature Reserve is from April through July when days are long. Spring is a good time for spotting red grouse in the blooming purple heather, while in summer the reserve bursts with red, fuchsia and orange colours and dragonflies, damselflies and butterflies flit around. In the autumn, there’s the possibility of seeing roe deer in the early morning or evening. The reserve is just a 45-minute drive from Glasgow.
