Wild camping is allowed in Scotland under the Scottish Outdoor Access Code, including the area around Fort William. However, you must follow certain guidelines and practice responsible camping. When wild camping in Fort William, choose a location that is away from buildings, roads, and farmland. Be sure to camp for only one or two nights in the same spot, leave no trace, and respect the environment and wildlife. Keep in mind that some areas around Fort William, such as Glen Nevis and the shores of Loch Lomond, have seasonal camping byelaws that restrict wild camping between March and September. In these areas, you will need to use designated campsites or obtain a permit for wild camping.
