Peaceful Camping

Great fishing!
Our favorite 'remote' campsite! The property and the river all to yourself. We spent the five days fishing on the river, catching many Northern Pike, including two over 30 inches long! One was 34" and 9 lbs./14 oz.
Thanks to Craig for the improvements to the property, including a new dock. Much easier to launch the boat!

Quiet and tucked away
Craig was an excellent host. This place had everything: picnic tables, a clean pit toilet, great views of the river, and even some firewood provided! Really enjoyed paddling on the river with the kayaks provided. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

The spot was Amazing!!!... 5 acres all to ourselves on the river 😊 ...
He has it all set up for you... with fire wood, & ring, 2 picnic tables, two chairs with cushions... an out house!! a shaded tarp shade cover and
a row boat to use...
Only thing was the flies... Bring plenty of those fly strips or something, for your van or tent.. They were a bit cRaZy... But we will be better prepared for them next time...

Family camping
Craig the campsite was perfect! Thank you for meeting us at the gas station and showing us to the location. ! We enjoyed the view of the river from the top of a little hillside perch. The kayaks and rowboat were great touch so that we explore the river. The first morning we had a group of pelicans that join us in and the evening we enjoyed fantastic starry night. Town was about five minutes away and we decided get our toes wet (camping style shower) in the big lake Michigan.

I had a great time on our first family camping trip! The site was even more secluded than I had anticipated (in a good way) and Craig had things very well set up. I loved letting my dog and kids run free without concern of bothering anyone else.

Craig was golden, the site was a dream, and our experiences there ranged from so much fun to peaceful to profound. Room to roam, walking paths, boats to row, a game to play and completely private. Everything was as Craig described, including my dogs would love it... my entire party of 6 wants to rebook.

The spot on Craigs land was beautiful, heard lots of wildlife at night and the stars and moon were phenomenal. The sun also rises on the river. The camp also has a very nice set up.

Beautiful Camp on the Water
I cannot recommend Craig’s land more to anyone on hip camp. Craig himself was fantastic to communicate with, drove us out to the land, gave us extra firewood, showed us some of his fishing spots, and overall made our experience amazing.
The land itself is perfect for getting away. It’s only a short drive to Algoma which has a well stocked grocery store, but the camp itself is incredibly private. We didn’t see or hear another person for our entire visit, save for the faintest image of the occasional car on the horizon.
The camp is perfect for two to four tents, comes with a boat, kayaks, canoe, an outhouse (with solar lights guiding the path to it from camp), fire pit with cooking rack, two picnic tables, and a large awning. The awning is more sunshade that water proof but was very welcomed.
Overall, Craig and his land met our every expectation and I cannot recommend this Hipcamp more.

Craig's property is extremely peaceful. It's nicely laid out, the view in the morning is absolutely beautiful, he's mowed walking paths throughout the camping area and has the boat, canoe and kayaks avail for guests. The outhouse is a welcome touch also. The river is the most serine water way we have seen.

Camping by the river
Craig was a great host! We loved the land and the ability for our family and dogs to be alone while we camped. The additional amenities Craig offered (firewood, the outhouse, the kayaks and canoe for example) we’re a great addition to the beauty of the river and the site. We’ll be back for sure!

River Camping!
Excellent views of the river. Enjoyed the rowboat the two kayaks in the canoe that were available also really enjoyed the outdoor ladder yard game. Directions were excellent to find, a 20 to 25 foot camper should have no issue getting in there. The free firewood was a bonus. Very quiet lot’s of birds and ducks. 10 minute drive to Algoma and a 25 minute drive to Potawatomi state park which has hiking trails. Across the river is the Ice Age Trail that was also very pleasant.

Tent camping
Craig was incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful but respected our privacy. Beautiful spot on the river and we enjoyed the sunrise view, paddling down the river, having a campfire over dinner, and just enjoying some peace in nature. Great location next to door county where we spent the day hiking, explored a winery, and had a delicious dinner. We were luck to have caught a good amount of fish during our time as well!! Will definitely be coming back!

Relaxation!
We've camped here a few times before and will continue to come back again and again. Our stays are always so relaxing, with beautiful views of the river, walks along the shoreline, kayaking, and fishing. Craig goes out of his way to make his land and campsite just perfect for his guests. Each time we visit, the site has a new addition to make our stay just great!

It was a great place to stay! Beautiful spot on the river! We stayed here with a few friends and enjoyed a wonderful weekend! Craig was a great host and made us feel comfortable and informed us what was all around! Secluded and private but close to town if you need anything or want to explore! Relaxation, privacy, and nature!
Relaxation, privacy, and nature! This was our second visit to Craig’s land and we’ll be back again. Beautiful views of the river, trails to wander, a pier to fish off, and kayaks to get out on the water and paddle. Craig provided chairs, picnic tables and benches, a fire pit/ring, and cooking grates. He also left us a generous amount of firewood. There is an outhouse on site as well. As I said, we’ll be back again, and again!

A 5 acre campsite in southern Door County, with a levelled and gravelled area to park your vehicle at the top. It slopes down to the Ahnapee River, with a rowboat and kayaks nestled on the riverbank. Beautiful views. Next time I may bring a bike and, just for fun, row across the river to go for a ride on the Ahnapee River State Trail. (I haven’t explored the opposite bank for a convenient spot to bring the bike ashore.)

We've stayed at several hipcamps in the past and this has been the best yet. The area is beautiful, totally secluded, and Craig is super friendly. We'll definitely be back!
