Family-friendly Pyrénées campsite which simply oozes peace and tranquility

Covering a region of over 45,000 km2, the Mid-Pyrénées is the largest metropolitan region in the whole of France. In an area bigger than the Netherlands, visitors could be forgiven for feeling a little bit... well, overwhelmed amidst the shadow of such imposing mountains. But fear not, cool campers, for this is also pleasingly one of France's most sparsely populated regions. Daily life seems to breeze along round these parts with the Pyreneans renowned gourmands and unashamed exponents of that quintessential joie de vivre. We're happy to report that this laid back atmosphere has extended to the local camping fraternity and in particular, the wonderfully-easy going Camping Pré Fixe.

Nestled next to the ancient foothill village of Comminges – the historical region capital – the three star Camping Pré Fixe positively oozes peace and tranquility. Campers are spoilt for choice with a number of accommodation options on offer including traditional tent pitches, luxury lodges and chalets as well as the cute little Canadian minis on stilts – complete with double bed and kitchenette, these are perfect for camping couples.

With an onsite swimming pool, tennis courts and more activities than you shake a baguette at, there's plenty to keep you occupied (and that's not even mentioning the wealth of outdoor pursuits that await in the surrounding mountains).

Our personal highlight is the camp's own bistro/bar – Le Bistro. A labour of love for resident sommelier and owner Cyril, this welcoming hub of campsite life stocks some of the finest local produce and best varieties of vino courtesy of a carefully selected band of local producers.

So with good wine, good entertainment and even better views, Camping Pré Fixe ticks all Hipcamp boxes. When it comes to glamping in France, the decision, it seems, has never been easier.

Grass Pitch Without Electricity

Best campsite I’ve ever stayed on. We stayed for 2 nights with our three teens, in a tent. Large, private, shady pitch. Spotlessly clean shower block, jacuzzi, Uber tasteful communal area. The best evening meal we have had in France. So much to do here for families. Such a shame we only had 2 nights to stay. Thank you for your hospitality.

Camping Pré Fixe is situated in the quiet little village of Cassagnabére-Tournas - just a few km from the slightly busier Aurignac and about an hour's drive from Toulouse airport. Celine and Cyrille are friendly hosts and are ever helpful with tips for local restaurants and towns. Although, a meal at the campsite Bistro is a must if you're there for a week or two. Our lodge was presented spotlessly and well-equipped with an amazing shower. I did have a nose at the "sanitaires" while I was there; needlessly to say they were also spotless and well-equipped. There are a couple of washing machines also. The pitches all benefit from shade during the day. The swimming pool, while small, is lovely - and with only 45 pitches on site, it's never going to be that busy anyway. It's heated enough to take the edge off when you jump in and has a nice safe paddling area for little ones. There's table football, a table tennis table and plenty of books and games for kids. There's also a "sharing" area where people leave behind any non-perishables which they've not used. One piece of advice - don't buy any coffee filters at the supermarket. :o) All the cleaning products in our lodge were eco-friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and wish Cyrille and Celine all the best for the future. We will certainly return one day.

Perfect campsite. Small enough to be very friendly and pretty, but with a cosy and rustic wine bar restaurant area with local products. Great pool, loads of space for the children, fresh bread every morning and lovely people. Céline et Cyril made us very welcome, I really hope we can visit again.

We found this site on the list of sites under the Camping Natura group. This was our first visit to Haute Garonne and the site. We had a lovely week. Celine and Cyril made us very welcome, helped us plan the weeks activities and cooked us delicious meals. Camping Pré Fixe is an excellent site in rural France. Great walks and lumpy cycle rides from the site which we enjoy. Also lots of markets to stock up on some fabulous produce. We stayed with our small caravan and awning but there are also cabins that you can hire. The site itself has large pitches surrounded by mature hedging with beautiful views across the valley. The pool area looked great although the weather was mixed so didn't spend much time there - perhaps next time! Facilities were excellent - spotlessly clean. We have just come back from the Pré Fixe Campsite after camping for 10 nights in our own tent. All we can say is book now before they fill up! Céline and Cyril have created a very unique site in the Midi-Pyrénées region, the atmosphere is very quiet, calm and friendly....ideal for families. The region itself is stunning with beautiful mountain views ...and the Pré Fixe campsite is nestled in the heart of it! If you like hiking, biking, canyoning, or rafting…, you will not be disappointed. The highlight for us was spending many evenings around the communal bar area and restaurant meeting new people and friends, while the children enjoyed playing in the natural surroundings, as well as in the swimming pool, on the trampoline ...at table football, table tennis… etc etc Thankyou Céline and Cyril for an wonderful, relaxing holiday!

We've just come back from a wonderful, relaxing week in the Midi-Pyrénées region, staying at the camping Pré-Fixe in a gorgeous wooden cabin with all mod cons, dishwasher, shower room and two spacious bedrooms one for us and one for the kids. It was so relaxing eating breakfast on our terrace, with the birds tweeting and NO TRAFFIC......Bliss! Afternoons exploring the magnificent scenery....(you can even borrow bikes for a small donation), and having fun in the beautiful pool area. The kids loved having some freedom too, to play in the natural surroundings......it's a lovely, safe, small family campsite. Evenings were spent relaxing in the bar area, and we ate a few times in the restaurant where Céline cooked delicious home-made French food and Cyril was on hand to advise with wines. They even hold a communal BBQ evening once a week. Fantastic, warm, hosts in a lovely, natural environment with beautiful, clean facilities. You and your family will LOVE it! Thankyou so much for a lovely holiday.....we'll be back!

Nous avons passé une semaine dans un chalet Tahoe avec nos deux enfants en août 2015 et c’était merveilleux. Le chalet était très confortable, très chaleureux et cosy, avec beaucoup de bois et une superbe terrasse avec une formidable vue sur les montagnes ! Céline et Cyril sont toujours disponibles pour vous, ils ont crée une ambiance très zen dans leur camping, l’ambiance est décontracte dans un environnement nature et magique.Si vous ajoutez à cela un bistrot bar à vins avec de très bons produits pour les repas et de très bons vins dans une atmosphère conviviale, tout est réuni pour d’excellentes vacances en famille ou simplement en couple.Nos enfants ont aussi adoré le camping, la piscine, les nombreux jeux à disposition et le club avec Harriett, une animatrice géniale qui anime en plus du club enfants une surprise party avec eux tous les vendredi soir.Ils proposent de beaux emplacements pour camper, plusieurs modèles de chalets, des hébergements insolites et depuis cette année, des tentes Bell équipées sur pilotis, de quoi satisfaire tout le monde ! Ce camping est vraiment un petit bijou…

What a lovely peaceful campsite to spend quality time with your family! The surrounding area is beautiful and the campsite itself very well thought out. Great private camping plots, very clean toilet and shower blocks and a lovely little restaurant serving delicious home cooked meals. Just perfect for the kids who are always kept busy playing with their friends on the trampoline, in the swimming pool or at kids club. Cyril and Celine were wonderful hosts, always there to help and have plenty of activities to suggest. If you are looking for somewhere to disconnect from busy life and enjoy a glass of wine in the sun, camping pre fixe is the place!

We've just spent 2 weeks at Camping Pre Fixe - first week in our tent and second week in a chalet - and loved it. It was our first experience camping as a family (we have a 6 year old, and an 18 month old) and it worked really well for everyone. Our 6 year old was off playing from breakfast until dinner time building dens, climbing trees, at kids club - and we felt very comfortable not always having her in sight. Celine and Cyril are lovely hosts - and have thought a lot of things through to make the experience special. It also helps that they are excellent cooks - having a few meals made for you during the week makes it feel more like a holiday, ditto for the freshly baked croissants and baguettes every morning. Harriet - who runs the kids clubs - is lovely and very creative; our daughter was so keen every morning to join in. A big plus is how clean and well looked after the shower & toilet units are too, and we appreciated the privacy of each pitch having hedges around it.

My husband, 2 children and I have just returned from this beautiful campsite. The pitches are spacious with electricity (if requested) and positioned so most have a view of the stunning landscape. The Bistro at night is a very social spot, with adults and children having a great time. It's a well throughout campsite with just the right amount of activities for the children along with a morning childrens club (craft making and treasure hunts) keep the children busy. We really enjoyed our stay, would definitely recommend!

We have just returned from a fantastic 2 week stay at this site and we had a wonderful time. It is ideal for families with children - the site is remote, small and safe for children to play freely. We barely saw our 7 year old daughter; she made friends and enjoyed being outside all the time. The pitches and chalets (we had a chalet) are spaced out with privacy. The area is beautiful; the site is surrounded by open countryside and charming small villages and small towns. Cyril and Celine are charming and work very hard to ensure the site runs smoothly. There are quiet evenings around the bistro either eating good home made food or just having a bottle of wine. The pool area is clean and ideal for children. All in all, a great holiday and we will be back.

We had a wonderful time at this gorgeous, friendly campsite. Our little girls, 2 and 4, loved the pool, play areas and trampoline, and everything was clean and beautifully maintained. We have just returned from spending 11 nights at Camping Pré Fixe - a wonderful and very relaxing campsite in beautiful surroundings. The campsite is clean and very well maintained with excellent facilities. We were very pleased with our pitch with a view. Our children (3 & 6) absolutely loved the play area, trampoline, badminton, table tennis and of course the lovely heated pool. It is a very safe place for them to run around freely without much supervision. The owners made us feel very welcome and were always very helpful. We also had some excellent meals at the Bistro. Thanks you Celine and Cyril for a wonderful holiday. We will be back!

Nous sommes passés régulièrement dans ce camping depuis 2012 pour nous y ressourcer ( dernièrement en mai 2015). Nous sommes à chaque fois accueilli chaleureusement par Céline et Cyril. Nous avons logé dans des chalets différents et tous aussi bien propre qu'entretenu. Quel plaisir chaque matin de déjeuner sur la terrasse du chalet avec une vue magnifique sur la chaîne des Pyrénées. Le soir vous pourrez dîner au bistrot du camping avec une cuisine de qualité faite sous vos yeux par Céline et Cyril avec des produits locaux. Ces repas pourront s'accompagner d'un des nombreux excellents vins proposés issue d'une sélection rigoureuse de Cyril.

We camped at the Pre Fixe for 2 weeks in August and the atmosphere is really cool, very zen.The site is beautiful with lots of trees, great locations and beautiful views of the mountains. Everything is provided for children, many games, a heated pool, and a modest sized campsite that children can walk alone safely. The holiday cottages are beautiful and seem very comfortable with large terraces. Many different nationalities were present during our stay, English, Irish, Scottish, Belgian, Dutch, French and German, and this mixture gives a nice atmosphere. Celine and Cyril, the owners, are very helpful and close to their customers, they give a lot for the good order of the campsite, cleanliness ... The evenings at the wine bar bistro are excellent, a very nice setting, games for children, homemade food made by Céline with fresh products, fine wines chosen by Cyril. Frankly, camping Pré Fixe is a beautiful ideal campsite to spend quality time with friends or family. Thank you to Celine and Cyril for this great atmosphere.

The camping préfixe is a really lovely campsite in many ways: not only are the owners extremly welcoming and helpful but the campsite itself is perfectly set up too. Good sized plots, spotless toilets and showers, a beautiful swimming pool... The surronding area is stunning with plenty to do and the children are never bored with a kids club, trampoline, badminton and even ping pong table. A perfect place to stay for a family or couple looking for a relaxing, chilled holiday but also fancy doing some outdoor activities. Thank you Cyril and Celine for a fantastic holiday :)

Simply, le pré fixe is one of the best campsites we have visited. The grounds are attractive and lush (early June), the pitches are a good size and have privacy with hedges. The sanitaire arrangements are good and spotlessly clean. The pool and bistro area is attractive and the food served tasty and good value for money. The hosts are excellent - friendly and helpful and able to advise knowledgeably about the nearby area. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Free wi-fi was a plus. Our children (10 and 13) enjoyed it too (pool, trampoline, ping-pong etc.) and we shall definitely return.

When our holiday plans changed at the last minute and my husband announced that we should go camping to France my heart nearly stopped. The longest I have ever camped is two nights and a few weeks in a tent filled me with dread. I am of course now eating my words..We have just returned from two weeks at camping pré fixe and I can safely say I am a camping convert. The campsite is run by husband and wife team Celine and Cyril who made us feel very welcome and nothing was ever too much trouble. I am not gifted in the language department and luckily Celine speaks some English and I managed to get by. They are always around for any questions, and tips and advice on things to do in the surrounding area. The campsite is neat, clean and just the right size offering a selection of pitches, fixed tents and wooden cottages. Hedges divide the plots providing you with your own space. There are ample showers and toilets with space and three electricity points for hairdryers and charging phones and ipads etc. There is a separate area for washing up and two washing machines. The swimming pool is a good size and there is a restaurant area and free wifi in this space. Celine is a good cook offering a three course home cooked menu at a very reasonable price. There is a lot to do in the surrounding area: Balnea Therme spa, days out (Toulouse, Albi, Louchon, Lourdes, you name it) and lots of opportunities to walk and cycle in the beautiful countryside. It was one of the most relaxing holidays I have had in a long time and I will definitely go back. I would highly recommend camping pré fixe. It has a very relaxed, homely feel and as soon as we pitched our tent I knew I wouldn't be going anywhere for a while.

Stayed here with my family for three nights last month. The site is very peaceful and relaxed and we really enjoyed our stay. Both Cyril and Celine, who own the site, are very friendly and helpful and look after the site very well. All in all, a really nice site and well worth a visit.

A great place to stay in the beautiful Pyrenees – a quiet site, off the usual beaten track, ideal for exploring the local area - and the children loved the pool and running around the site to visit their new found friends. Cyril stocks some great wines at the Bistro, and makes a mean coffee. Highly recommended!

For the second year in a row, we spent great time at Camping Pre Fixe. I love this place for the food (thank you Celine) and the great selection of wines (ask Cyril, he knows everything about wines) and my girlfriend loves it for its quietness and the lovely Pyrrenean landscape. Family-friendly Pyrénées campsite which simply oozes peace and tranquility. Covering a region of over 45,000 km2, the Mid-Pyrénées is the largest metropolitan region in the whole of France. In an area bigger than the Netherlands, visitors could be forgiven for feeling a little bit... well, overwhelmed amidst the shadow of such imposing mountains.
