A unique combination of off-grid glamping and spa days in Devon
If you’re seeking a break within the unspoiled wilderness, camping amid untamed woodland accessible across a babbling brook, at the head of a valley on an organic poultry farm with delightful roaming chickens, then chances are you’re looking to properly relax. Wild Earth’s eco-conscious campsite provides the above, and knows that its visitors are looking to truly unwind; it’s a good thing, then, that your trip can also be complemented by a masseuse and aromatherapist, in this unique combination of off-grid glamping and luxurious spa day. Wild Earth is located in the 40 acres of a spring-fed wooded valley that make up Bulstone Springs farm, run by certified organic farmers Laura and Jon looking to share their land and its diverse ecology with guests. The spring in question runs down to the quiet village of Branscombe and then into the sea, and so Wild Earth’s hosts are respectful of the land they own and what they put into it. But that doesn’t mean that your spacious, furnished bell tent — heated by a wood burner — isn’t without its amenities; a fire pit sits beneath a separate, raised “parachute” tent, surrounded by benches for an evening natter, a hot shower looks out onto the woodland for sheltered but scenic bathing, and the camp kitchen and compost loo round off everything you need. With the essentials comprehensively covered, all that’s left to do is relax in your surroundings. And what a place to relax — on top of the site being ideally situated close to the Jurassic Coast with its myriad of beaches, clifftops, and stunning walks, on-site you’re offered the luxury of holistic massages from aromatherapy studio Wyldlore. Book them before you arrive and get those aches and pains smoothed out from the comfort of your heated bell tent, with bespoke offerings available along with the likes of balm and perfume-making workshops. For more energetic activities, axe-throwing is also available (please check with the Host for availability prior to booking), as is tracking and natural navigation that takes visitors on an adventure in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. And, if you’re hungry, a delicious batch of fresh local food can be pre-ordered before your arrival from In My Back Yard, the local producers' co-op that Bulstone Springs is proudly a part of. Laura and Jon want you to leave Wild Earth as relaxed as the site itself; with its flowing spring, valley setting, and on-site massages, they’re adeptly equipped to achieve this goal.

Wild Earth
Lovely site and hosts
Amazing find. We had a great stay here with our two children who absolutely loved it. You have the site all to yourself and is a lovely peaceful spot close to Branscombe and Sidmouth. The facilities are great with a really well equipped kitchen, multiple options for fires and cooking (with wood provided), comfy bedding, hammocks and even a hot shower in the woods. Lovely extras like fresh eggs and spring water. Laura and her family who live on the site up the hill were lovely and helpful. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area

Nearby attractions
Wild Earth is exceptional for the range of on-site aromatherapy treatments it offers, along with workshops such as axe-throwing, tracking, and natural navigation. The site’s partnership with Wyld Lore (07758928727) means that guests can pre-book a therapy treatment that will be provided to them in their bell tent, with qualified aromatherapist Ella Staff. She also offers a range of aromatherapy balm and perfume-making workshops, and even the kids can join in on the latter for a day of creativity. Outside of the site, Wild Earth is located in the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with Branscombe village part of the Jurassic Coastline. As such, there are plenty of scenic views to admire and plenty of beaches to explore. Weston Beach is only a mile away, with this secret spot only accessible by a walk and, with its steep steps and rocky terrain, visitors will feel a sense of accomplishment when they’re relaxing on its pebbled beach looking out to the ocean. Sidmouth Beach is a little over five miles away from the site and more of a tourist spot than Weston, with its sand and shingle beach backed by the seaside town of the same name, where visitors can also find a variety of unique shops and eateries. It’s an ideal spot for a day out — take a trip to the immaculately presented Connaught Gardens (01395 517528), or keep walking down the seafront until you reach the picturesque Chit Rocks. Venture a little further out to Seaton, a 15-minute drive from the site, and you’ll be able to look out across Lyme Bay from its coast, where dolphins are spotted during periods of warm weather. A little further still is the town of Lyme Regis is a 20-minute drive from the site, where visitors can admire its harbour and the world-famous wall protecting it, named The Cobb.
Food and drink
In My Back Yard (01297 680 680) is a co-op that Wild Earth visitors will be able to enjoy, given that Bulstone Springs is one of its partners. Order fresh produce during the week leading up to your arrival (note the Wednesday 10 pm cut off time), which will be delivered to your bell tent when you arrive. Elsewhere, The Fountain Head (01297 680 359) is a great local pub that can be reached in a 20-minute walk, with unfussy food and a log fire along with a selection of ales. The Masons Arms (01297680300) is a 10-minute drive, an award-winning 14th-century inn that proudly combines a classic and modern setting. The Kitchen is located next to the free-to-visit Donkey Sanctuary (01395 578222), offering good food, teas, coffees, and cakes in a spot where the kids can also learn more about these animals. One of the most popular local cafes is The Courtyard (01395 577553) in Sidmouth, with this botanically-inspired restaurant featuring a menu with locally sourced produce and a laid-back atmosphere.
