The six ‘Langley Longboat’ cabins are positioned on the bank of Langley Dam Reservoir, providing exceptional views over the 14 acres of water and towards Whitfield moor. Langley Dam itself is a commercial fly fishery and Troutmaster water. Visitors are welcome, and encouraged, to enjoy the fishing experience that the water provides (charges do apply, but residents have discounted fishing fees). We also have rowing boats that can be hired for fishing purposes.
We have created some fantastic 3D showcases of the inside of the cabins. You can use these to get a better feel of how the cabins are laid out. We have created 3 showcases to reflect the 3 types of cabins we have. What a beautiful place! Everything we could possibly need was there for us on arrival; the pod was lovely and cozy and it was great to be able to sit out around the firepit in the evening. Birdsong everywhere and plenty of wildlife to see around the place. Sadly it was a bit wet to try the boat out but will have to come back on a sunnier day!

If you are looking for peace and quiet, surrounded by beautiful countryside then this place is for you. Great location. Great communication - Ruth came to see us when we contactedher about the WIFI. Use of private bathroom and shower. Only thing for us is that those facilities were across a farm yard and the cabin didn't have its own supply. The bed was comfy and the cabin stayed at a good temperature (even when it was cold outside). Fire pit available. Would recommend

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the log cabin, from the great atmosphere to the welcoming and helpful people close by, it was one of nicest glamping experiences. The cabin was such a cozy experience along with the beautiful view right outside of your cabin. If you are looking for some time away to relax or for long walks or even a little boat around the stream Ottermoss is the place to go.

When to go
Spring through autumn is the best time to visit Wauchope Forest. Mild, sometimes warm, temperatures and long daylight hours mean that you can enjoy the outdoors to the fullest and have your best chance of spotting wildlife. It is a year-round destination, however, but be aware that winter days are short and often wet. Those who wish to set up camp should note that motorhomes and campervans are typically permitted to park overnight at the Wauchope car park from April through October.
Know before you go
- Having your own transport is essential for reaching Wauchope Forest.
- You’ll find a selection of places to shop, eat and drink in Hawick and Newcastleton, both around a 20-minute drive away. There are also public toilets in Hawick.
- The weather is always unpredictable in Scotland. Even in the height of summer, bring warm, wet weather gear.
