Scotland's first national park is a paradise for caravan campers, less than an hour from Glasgow.
Ragged mountain peaks, sparkling lochs, and swaths of emerald-green forests provide the backdrop to a road trip through Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, and at less than an hour’s drive from Glasgow, it’s the ideal spot to escape to nature. The National Park Authority’s campsites are all tent-only, but you’ll find various options for motorhome and caravan camping throughout the national park and the surrounding countryside. Choose a family-friendly holiday park or caravan park with hardstanding and electric hookups or a tranquil farm campground with basic facilities away from the crowds. Self-sufficient caravanners seeking a back-to-nature experience can also enjoy wild camping at three designated motorhome areas—Three Lochs Forest Drive, Inveruglas, and Firkin Point—within the park. Note that wild camping permits are required from March through September, and many campgrounds within the park are seasonal, closing down from November through mid-March.
