The Loft Glamping & Camping

12 units · Motorhomes, Tents5 acres · Kinloss, Scotland
The Loft Glamping & Camping is situated at East Grange Farm, Kinloss, Moray. It 's a working farm that has evolved over the years to include Wigwam Glamping and Camping for campervans, motorhomes and tents. A number of the old farm buildings are also perfectly appointed as venue spaces for Weddings, Events and Workshops. The "wilderness" campsite offers pitches suitable for tents and small campervans whilst the Stackyard area is suitable for motorhomes and mega tents. All motorhome pitches have electrical hook-up and we have a good number of electric tent pitches. Unfortunately we do not take bookings for caravans. Onsite, we also have Original Wigwam cabins which are wooden camping cabins (Pods) that offer all year round protection against the elements. With heating, electricity, fridge, kettle and toasters. For those wanting a bit more luxury there are also ensuite Wigwam Cabins onsite with wood fired hot tubs. We welcome families, groups, well behaved dogs and do allow campfires outside the wigwams and at pitches and can provide fire hubs on the campsite (this must be pre-arranged). The Loft Glamping & Camping looks forward to welcoming you throughout the year!

Caravan parks in The Hermitage guide

Overview

The Hermitage is a National Trust for Scotland–protected stretch of Perthshire forest. The site is known for its huge, towering Douglas firs and the teeming Black Linn waterfall. The best view of the falls is captured by Ossian’s Hall of Mirrors, a viewing platform created with mirrors, sliding panels, and paintings that serves to make the sight of the roaring falls even more dramatic. The trail through the forest runs for 1.5 miles but keen walkers wanting to stretch their legs further can connect to other trails along Dunkeld Path Network. As a protected site, you cannot camp inside the Hermitage, but the tranquil Inver Mill Farm Holiday Park is just outside.

When to go

The Hermitage is open daily, all year-round, and makes for a delightful visit at any time. Perhaps best of all, however, is the autumn when the forest is bursting with colour and you can spot salmon leaping in Black Linn Falls as they head to spawning grounds farther upriver. Other wildlife you can see throughout the year include red squirrels and occasional beavers. Spring is a great time to see the blooming bluebells.

Know before you go

  • There is an entry fee (free for National Trust of Scotland members).
  • The closest bus stop is at Rose Cottage, a five-minute walk away.
  • Take care at the water’s edge. Even if it appears slow, the River Braan has a fast-flowing current.
  • If driving in winter, take care as the entry and paths are not treated for ice.
