The Loft Glamping & Camping

The Loft Glamping & Camping is situated at East Grange Farm, Kinloss, Moray. It 's a working farm that has evolved over the years to include Wigwam Glamping and Camping for campervans, motorhomes and tents. A number of the old farm buildings are also perfectly appointed as venue spaces for Weddings, Events and Workshops. The "wilderness" campsite offers pitches suitable for tents and small campervans whilst the Stackyard area is suitable for motorhomes and mega tents. All motorhome pitches have electrical hook-up and we have a good number of electric tent pitches. Unfortunately we do not take bookings for caravans. Onsite, we also have Original Wigwam cabins which are wooden camping cabins (Pods) that offer all year round protection against the elements. With heating, electricity, fridge, kettle and toasters. For those wanting a bit more luxury there are also ensuite Wigwam Cabins onsite with wood fired hot tubs. We welcome families, groups, well behaved dogs and do allow campfires outside the wigwams and at pitches and can provide fire hubs on the campsite (this must be pre-arranged). Overview

A favorite stop for roadtrippers making their way along the North Coast 500 driving route, the small Highland village of Brora is situated on a lovely stretch of Sutherland coastline. You can enjoy walks along the golden Brora Beach while keeping your eye out for dolphins, minke whales and seals. The village is a great base for enjoying the excellent golf courses in the area and it also lies along the 147-mile (237-kilometer) coastal walking route from Inverness to John o’ Groats, which traverses some of the Highland’s most scenic shorelines and cliff tops.

Around the Town

Nestled in a sheltered site, just steps from the beach and with direct access to a golf course, the Brora Caravan Club Site offers grass and hardstanding pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes. A five-minute drive north of Brora’s center, it's a great location for those who want to get out into nature and enjoy swimming, fishing or spotting marine wildlife.

Helmsdale

North of Brora, the little Highland village of Helmsdale is well-known for its excellent salmon fishing and is home to a dramatic statue commemorating the Highland Clearances. A 10-minute drive north of Brora, the Crakaig Loth Campsite is a basic site with space for tents, caravans and motorhomes.

Dornoch

Fifteen miles (24 kilometers) south of Brora, the elegant town of Dornoch is noted for both its fine architecture and its coastal scenery. Highlights include the 13th-century Dornoch Cathedral, nearby Dunrobin Castle and the Royal Dornoch, one of the best championship golf courses in Scotland. In the center of town, next to the golf course, Dornoch Caravan and Camping Park has plenty of electric and non-electric pitches for tourers and tents.

When to go

Most people visit between May and August in order to take advantage of long days and the best chance of sunny weather. The region does get busy in the summer months (especially July and August) with people touring the North Coast 500 driving route. Visiting in April or September is a good alternative as the crowds will be gone but the weather will likely still be mild. Winter visitors should note that days are short (the sun sets before 4 p.m. in December).

Know before you go

If choosing to wild camp, be sure to adhere to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
Gas stations can be scarce along the NC500 so fill up before heading far.
Many campsites in the area are seasonal: check opening dates before traveling.
Brora railway station has services north to Wick via Thurso and south to Inverness. Local buses can get you to nearby attractions such as Helmsdale and Dunrobin Castle.
