Cleghorn Farm is a mixed farm just north east of the market town of Lanark. Comprised of 250 acres of fields and woodland and bounded to the south by Mouse Water, it is a beautiful spot to get away from it all without having to leave it all behind if you don't want to. The fields are grazed and cultivated but the woodlands are much as they were at the end of the last ice age with spectacular walks along Cleghorn Glen with the chance to see badgers, bats, deer and all manner of birds among the towering pine and beech trees.
The Mouse Water (pronounced moose) tumbles down along the edge of the farm and has some glorious pools for swimming, shallows for paddling and some spectacular water falls before it joins the River Clyde, all a gentle walk from the sites.

What a beautiful spot for some camping. It is a short walk up to the campsite itself but the hosts provide wheelbarrows to help move things back and forth.
The campsite itself is lovely, enough space to keep to yourself, or plenty of room around the firepit for everyone.
Stunning views of the countryside, with only the odd train passing nearby. The occasional sounds of the deer and cows, alongside the bird calls helped settle me into the nature nearby.
Hosts clearly care very much about the campsite, accessiblity to the outdoors, and giving back to the land.
Would absolutely recommend, and will book again.

The beautiful cabin is in a lovely quiet private space. There are nice views across to the hills particularly when sat by the firepit. Alex and Lauren made us feel very welcome.

This cabin is very cute. Excellent value. Great views, lovely bedding. Simple but really thoughtfully done. Highly recommend. Small wood burning stove inside and fire outside. Very simply equipped ( nice) but everything you need. Nice compost toilet.Outdoor sink with water supply. Great decking around cabin.We were lucky enough to have sunshine and watched sun go down. We threw some pork chops and tomatoes on the outside fire ( bought from excellent farm shop at the nearby Tenby service station ) and boiled potatoes and asparagus on the wood burning stove inside and had delicious meal with bottle of wine. Had place all to ourselves. What’s not to want. Our dog loved it too ! Will return. Perfect to break journey if you travelling up further north Scotland as we were, or just relax for a few days.

1 night at The Snug at Logie Farm
We loved staying in the California Pod at Snug at Logie Farm, the views were amazing and the pod itself was brilliant, we were able to access and adjust heating easily as well as the cool lighting effects. We loved that the whole bathroom area turned into a shower, we had never seen this before, it’s a little small and cramped, but saves space in the room! We unfortunately forgot to check if there were cookers and utensils and brought our own food, but there weren’t any so I’d recommend just bringing pre-made food, going out to eat at one of the local restaurants (which they tell you about via email or in your welcome pack) or pre-ordering the bbq set they offer and Jo was kind enough to let us order this once we got there so we could have our dinner.
We spent the night in January and check in is at 3pm so it’s was getting quite dark already and then we had to check out at 10am the next morning, not giving us much daylight, so I would make the most of being outside while you can before it gets dark or book to stay two nights to really make the most of the next day, which is what we will be doing next time!
It’s a bit on the pricy side, but well worth it once you get there! The hot-tub was brilliant and we were able to connect to Bluetooth speakers from the pod to listen to music and charge our phones on wireless charge ports.
The bed was super comfortable and the nespresso machine provided was perfect for my morning coffee with a view!

Weekend Trip to The Snug at Logie Farm
Great vista over the Tay. Very classy Pods. Used the hot tub and fire pit outside. Stayed 2 nights. Arrived late afternoon and settled in on the first night with some pre prepared food we brought with us for eating cold. Saturday we Walked a local stretch of the Fife Coastal path that took in Normans Law (the local hill). Had a nice meal on Saturday evening in the Boar’s head at Auchtermuchty. Had marshmallows on the fire pit in the evening! Sunday morning we packed up and had a very enjoyable visit to St Andrews before heading home. All in all a very successful weekend.

Our family spent the night here as a wee adventure for the kids and to test out our new tent. Place was perfect for us. Couldn’t have asked for more from the host. From the car park there’s a few minutes walk up the wooded area used for camping but the host let us use a couple of wheelbarrows to shift our stuff (+ kids). Thanks Alex, we’ll defo be back and would love to bring another couple of families next time.

omg where do I start. they have thought of everything. the lovely walk through the fairy light enchanted wood over the bridge which is over a stream into wonderland. past the amazing wood burning stove and the bar with a fire pit. onto the deck into the airstream loads of little goodies left a personal message. the wood burner in the aitstream. everywhere you looked you saw the little touches that make this absolutely the best air bnb type place we've stayed . absolutely recommend the host is simply lovely if you go see if you spot the peeing dwarf. brilliant. thank you so much for an amazing time x

The yurt was great. Log burner was perfect for keeping us warm, with loads of logs provided! Peaceful surroundings, but well located for Crieff and Perth as well. Beds were comfortable. Hot tub was an added bonus. If planning to cook, bring camping essentials (e.g. camping stove, pots, washing up sponge, tea towel). Staff on site were very helpful.

The Snug at Logie Farm was amazing. The pod was spacious and beautifully kitted out. There was a welcome hamper of food and snacks and beautiful toiletries in the wet room. The outside space was fantastic with unbelievable views of the Loch and surrounding countryside. It was remote and peaceful yet easy to access towns and villages. We had a wonderful 2 night stay and will definitely be back.

We had the most wonderful time staying at Moss Yurt: the location was great for all the sights we wanted to visit, the bed was comfy, and the hot tub was lovely with a fabulous view. Access to a fridge and covered gas BBQ were a bonus, and the wood burning stove kept the yurt snug and warm late at night. Would definitely recommend and we are likely to book again sometime!

When to go
Flanders Moss National Nature Reserve has something different to appeal all year round. In spring and summer, the reserve is covered in fluffy white bog cotton and filled with nesting birds. You’re also likely to see reptiles such as frogs, toads and lizards. In fall the color palette changes to rich orange and you can see rutting red deer. Winter is worth a visit for the spectacle of wintering geese roosting on the lake.
Know before you go
- The bog can be deeper than it looks: Be sure to stick to the boardwalk and paths.
- Visitors should observe the Scottish Outdoor Access Code, leave no trace and refrain from picking flowers.
- The closest public bus stop is in Thornhill 2.5 miles (four kilometres) away. The closest train station is Stirling, nine miles (15 kilometres) away.
- The 3,000-foot (900-metre) boardwalk is accessible for wheelchair users.
