Cleghorn Farm is a mixed farm just north east of the market town of Lanark. Comprised of 250 acres of fields and woodland and bounded to the south by Mouse Water, it is a beautiful spot to get away from it all without having to leave it all behind if you don't want to. The fields are grazed and cultivated but the woodlands are much as they were at the end of the last ice age with spectacular walks along Cleghorn Glen with the chance to see badgers, bats, deer and all manner of birds among the towering pine and beech trees.
The Mouse Water (pronounced moose) tumbles down along the edge of the farm and has some glorious pools for swimming, shallows for paddling and some spectacular water falls before it joins the River Clyde.

The Sunset Pod is within a National Scenic Area and The Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, Scotland’s first National Park. It is surrounded by rolling Stirlingshire countryside and hills and is approached via its long private, and gated, drive off a quiet country road.
When you reach the pod, on the left side of the front door there is a key safe box (details will be sent on your booking) for self-check-in, just put the code in to access the keys to the pod and enjoy your stay admiring amazing mountains views. And if you are lucky, a deer may pay you a surprising visit.
If you are a smoker, we kindly ask you to only smoke outside of the glamping pod within the gazebo area, where an ashtray is provided.

St. Conan's Escape was such a beautiful area to disappear into! The property manager, Hazel, did such a phenomenal job of preparing the space--it was so beautifully-decorated and clearly well-maintained that I could see this as the perfect experience for other solo travelers or couples looking for a beautiful location to sink into.
I found St. Conan's Escape when looking for a place to go off-grid for a couple of days in the midst of traveling, and it had everything I needed--all of the amenities including plenty of cookware, a bathroom and extremely comfortable bed, so that I could focus on my writing projects. What a beautiful scenery it's in, too! I woke up to a beautiful sunrise over the mountains in the distance and I was so sad to leave such a majestic view. I would absolutely return and recommend it to anyone looking for a new experience!

The Airstream is an absolute beauty and an amazing place to stay. A nice bbq allows for some outdoor cooking and when inside, the record player sets the mood. A nice walk to the moors with amazing views of the Cairngorms can be done right from the doorstep.

We loved the cabin. Spacious and we slept very well. The best shower ever! The campsite has wonderful views and is well maintained. We used the bbq and fire pit. The barn is well equipped for cooking and relaxing. Angus is a wonderful host. Definitely would return to Muiredge when in Scotland!

Weekend Trip to Organic Welltree
We had a fantastic stay at Organic Welltree in the Bramble yurt. Lovely people, lovely setting and very nice accommodation. If you’re looking for a weekend escape this is a great, affordable option. We’ll definitely visit again.

I loved my 4 night break in the Bramble Yurt. The yurt was clean and cosy. I did have the stove burner on due to the weather being so good. The bathroom shed was clean and fresh. The fridge was a god send considering the temperature reach a high of 27 degrees. I had a relaxing time sitting in the fresh air watching the wild life and the world go by. I would highly recommend Organic Welltree. I shall definitely go back. I wish to thanks them for my time at Kirkland.

2 nights at The Charcoal Huts - Isle of Bute
The Charcoal Huts were so magical. We stayed in Birch and it had amazing views, was quite private and had everything we needed - including things we forgot.
It was beautiful and cosy inside and the fire kept us so warm. I really loved this place.

Weekend Trip to Aberdeenshire Airstream
Stuart really put thought and effort into making the Airstream and area into an amazing place to stay. With a deck, gas BBQ, firepit and lots of spots to sit outside it makes for a very relaxed time away. The area is very quiet but there is lots to see and do that's not very far.
Truly a great host, it was a pleasure to stay there.

4 nights at St Conan's Escape
St. Conan's Escape was lovely- the perfect place to stay during our venture to western Scotland. The accommodations were perfect, the view was excellent, and the host was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be looking up this cute little Basecamp for our next adventure in Scotland! Thank you!

1 night at West Highland Way Hotel & Campsite
Very friendly staff. Easy to find. Great facilities. Lovely walks right at back of premises.
Only downside for me was the noise off other campers. People turning up and setting stuff up after 10 pm. Also loud group of lads. But I’m use to wild camping so maybe noise would be acceptable for most.

2 nights at Pirnie Lodge Farm
From the minute we arrived Anne was welcoming and gave us all the information to do with the lodge, the lodge itself was spotless and felt homely from the minute we walked in. Anne also left a welcome pack which was an added bonus, the hot tub was ready on arrival and Anne also shown us how to use this before leaving
Anne gave us recommendations on places to visit and where we could go for days out, we were recommended the milk barn which was delicious, the ice cream and milkshakes were perfect!
We would also recommend going there!

Where to go
Blairgowrie
From Blairgowrie’s town centre, you can follow the river 1.5 miles (two kilometres) to the history-soaked waterfalls and woodlands of Cargill’s Leap. In the town centre. Blairgowrie Holiday Park has nightly and seasonal pitches for touring caravans and motorhomes, as well as a handful of lodges with hot tubs.
Glamis
Around a 25-minute drive east, the small village of Glamis is famed for its Glamis Castle, setting for Shakespeare’s Macbeth and a fairytale-like structure of romantic turrets and towers and grand interiors. A five-minute drive north of Glamis Caslte, Drumshademuir Caravan and Camping Park has a selection of glamping pods.
Angus Glens
A favourite destination for hikers, climbers and cyclists, the Angus Glens are home to ten ‘Munros’ (mountains over 3,000 feet). Set in rolling hills, close to the serene Loch of Lintrathen, Nethercraig Holiday Park has pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, as well as a handful of glamping options in pods and huts.
When to go
Spring and summer are the best seasons for visiting the area. While days of hot, sunny weather are very much hit and miss, you can be sure of long daylight hours and mild temperatures. To avoid the biggest summertime crowds, try to avoid weekends and the school holidays in July and August. Autumn, though potentially wet and chilly, can be a good alternative: the crowds will have gone and the countryside will be ablaze in rich colours.
Know before you go
- Wild camping is legal throughout Scotland as long as you follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
- Most organised campsites in the area are open only seasonally: Check dates if planning to travel outside of peak season.
- You can reach Blairgowrie by bus from Dundee, which is connected to Glasgow, Edinburgh and beyond by both bus and train. Local buses can get you to most nearby places of interest, but having your own transport is preferable for heading into the Angus Glens.
