Cleghorn Farm is a mixed farm just north east of the market town of Lanark. Comprised of 250 acres of fields and woodland and bounded to the south by Mouse Water, it is a beautiful spot to get away from it all without having to leave it all behind if you don't want to. The fields are grazed and cultivated but the woodlands are much as they were at the end of the last ice age with spectacular walks along Cleghorn Glen with the chance to see badgers, bats, deer and all manner of birds among the towering pine and beech trees.
The Mouse Water (pronounced moose) tumbles down along the edge of the farm and has some glorious pools for swimming, shallows for paddling and some spectacular water falls before it joins the River Clyde, all a gentle walk from the sites.

St. Conan's Escape was such a beautiful area to disappear into! The property manager, Hazel, did such a phenomenal job of preparing the space--it was so beautifully-decorated and clearly well-maintained that I could see this as the perfect experience for other solo travelers or couples looking for a beautiful location to sink into.
I found St. Conan's Escape when looking for a place to go off-grid for a couple of days in the midst of traveling, and it had everything I needed--all of the amenities including plenty of cookware, a bathroom and extremely comfortable bed, so that I could focus on my writing projects. What a beautiful scenery it's in, too! I woke up to a beautiful sunrise over the mountains in the distance and I was so sad to leave such a majestic view. I would absolutely return and recommend it to anyone looking for a new experience!

We loved the cabin. Spacious and we slept very well. The best shower ever! The campsite has wonderful views and is well maintained. We used the bbq and fire pit. The barn is well equipped for cooking and relaxing. Angus is a wonderful host. Definitely would return to Muiredge when in Scotland!

This cabin is very cute. Excellent value. Great views, lovely bedding. Simple but really thoughtfully done. Highly recommend. Small wood burning stove inside and fire outside. Very simply equipped ( nice) but everything you need. Nice compost toilet.Outdoor sink with water supply. Great decking around cabin.We were lucky enough to have sunshine and watched sun go down. We threw some pork chops and tomatoes on the outside fire ( bought from excellent farm shop at the nearby Tenby service station ) and boiled potatoes and asparagus on the wood burning stove inside and had delicious meal with bottle of wine. Had place all to ourselves. What’s not to want. Our dog loved it too ! Will return. Perfect to break journey if you travelling up further north Scotland as we were, or just relax for a few days.

This place is amazing - from the exterior of the lodge and hot tub area, to the unique interior as well as the surroundings - everything is perfect! Tracey and her husband are lovely, around if you need them but respect your privacy if you don’t. If going I would highly recommend the Norton lodge! Tracey even added a nice wee touch to the lodge knowing it was going to be my husband’s 40th, this was much appreciated! We will defo be back!

A beautiful setting with views across the valley. Tents/huts were well spread out and private and we couldn’t hear other guests. Beds were very comfortable. A big barn to share games and food was just wonderful. Angus was extremely welcoming and the entire stay was relaxing and cathartic.

We had the most perfect stay at St Conan’s Escape (Columba).
The cabin itself is lovely and Hazel’s finishing touches made it even more special. It’s extremely well kitted out for a small space with more than adequate cooking equipment.
The walks straight from the door are fantastic with the Cruachan Dam being only a 45 min walk up the road.
But what made this place really hard to leave was the most amazing view from the cabin. You really need to see it in person to believe how beautiful it is. From sunrise in the morning to sunset at night, it doesn’t get much better!
We will definitely be back and look forward to that day already.
