Welcome to Fernlea. We would love to have you visit us, either on our 5 pitch campsite for motorhomes and caravans, or in 2025 to our new luxury glamping pod.
Fernlea is our home in the heart of an agricultural plain called “The Carse of Gowrie,” which runs for 20 miles or so along the River Tay between Perth and Dundee. It’s a beautiful area that we hope you will love too.
We are a short walk from the village of Errol, with access to lovely walks along the Tay. We are adjacent to the local bus route (just stick your arm out!), the Sustrans cycle route 77, plus only a mile or so from the A90 Perth to Dundee / Aberdeen road. We are perfect for both a short stopover and a longer break with a fascinating local area to explore.
All pitches have hard standing, water on each pitch, grey waste disposal adjacent to the pitch, and a 10 or 16 amp electric supply with a chemical toilet waste tank with rinsing tap behind our garage.
We are also within easy access to Fife and the southern area of the Highlands. Walkers and bird watchers will find many footpaths by the River Tay and can climb the local hills to see buzzards, hawks, ducks, and migrating geese throughout the seasons.
Any visitors requiring repairs or accessories for their van will find the large Perthshire Caravan dealership nearby. Every Sunday, one of Scotland’s largest car boot sales and markets is held less than a mile away.

The caravan is on the family run Monreith Sands Holiday Park with a great location on the beautiful Galloway coast. Sandy beaches are only a few 100m away. The generally calm waters of Luce Bay are great for swimming or kayaking. Nearby is a golf course plus historic sites and formal gardens.
Although the Galloway Forest is know for being a Dark Sky Park and great for stargazing, the whole Machars peninsular is very dark. The Galloway Astronomy Centre (01988 500594) gives stargazing tours.

The one and only Mosedale Glamping Pod is tucked in the corner of the farmyard next to the garden & stream. This gives guests the unique experience of staying in the heart of a Farm, with wonderful views of the lambing fields & hay meadows. The veranda is the perfect place to sit and watch Farm life in a quieter corner of the Lake District.
The Mosedale Glamping Pod sleeps 2 adults in a made-up double bed. Shower en-suite with towels, mini kitchen for basic food prep, with fridge, underfloor heating, wi-fi, smart TV and of course the stunning double-ended luxurious Bath.
Several local country pubs, the closest only 2 miles away – an easy 30-minute road walk.
Fabolous dark sky for star gazing and if you are lucky, the Northern Lights.
Walk Wainwrights from the farm gate such as Carrock, High Pike, Calva & Back ‘O’ Skiddaw or Bowscale, Mungrisdale Common and Blencathra.
Bowscale Tarn is only a 40-minute walk, the perfect location for wild swimming and picnics, and Lake Ullswater is a 20-minute picturesque drive. The tourist hotspot town of Keswick is only 14 miles away.

Weekend Trip to Fernlea - Campsite & Pod
Staying at Bruce’s house was an absolute pleasure! He was so incredibly helpful and kind and the pod is perfect. I would live there for the rest of my life if I could! The kitchen is great. The hot tub is beyond belief and so good that it’s almost intoxicating. When my boyfriend and I accidentally reset the Internet, Bruce was beyond kind and helpful. Next time I’m in this area I will for sure Be staying here again.

What a beautiful place! Everything we could possibly need was there for us on arrival; the pod was lovely and cozy and it was great to be able to sit out around the firepit in the evening. Birdsong everywhere and plenty of wildlife to see around the place. Sadly it was a bit wet to try the boat out but will have to come back on a sunnier day!

Just returning from our first visit to Cardewlees and we could not of asked for a better stay. Cardewlees is an absolute little gem of a campsite and Johnny could not have been a better host if he tried. We had a wonderful little getaway here, exactly what we needed nice and quiet and surrounded by nature, the pod was clean and cosy and provided everything you need for a stay. Loved the getaway in the campervan for couple days , back to nature with stunning views. Such a beautiful quiet place on a lovely farm surrounded by livestock. Great wee chippy in Dalton and co-op right next to it plus wee cafes aswell n butchers.
Only thing was having to take own loo roll into bathroom even after the cleaner had been n not restocked.
Would deffo come back and maybe stay in the pods for a change.

If you are looking for peace and quiet, surrounded by beautiful countryside then this place is for you. Great location. Great communication - Ruth came to see us when we contactedher about the WIFI. Use of private bathroom and shower. Only thing for us is that those facilities were across a farm yard and the cabin didn't have its own supply. The bed was comfy and the cabin stayed at a good temperature (even when it was cold outside). Fire pit available. Would recommend

It was amazing! The view of the surrounding fells and farms was so tranquil and peaceful. Andrew was a friendly and helpful host. The property was beautiful and there was a good community of campers there that socialized over breakfast. There were also trails on the property that we didn't get to. Very friendly staff. Easy to find. Great facilities. Lovely walks right at back of premises.
Only downside for me was the noise off other campers. People turning up and setting stuff up after 10 pm. Also loud group of lads. But I’m use to wild camping so maybe noise would be acceptable for most.

When to go
While most visited in summer, Glen Clova is a year-round destination. The landscapes vary throughout the year, from verdant pine forests in summer to snow-capped hills in winter. Winter visitors should, however, dress for occasionally harsh conditions and bear in mind that daylight hours are short. The best time to visit to see wildflowers in Corrie Fee National Nature Reserve is from mid-June through mid-August.
Know before you go
- The weather in Scotland is always changeable. Bring warm, waterproof clothing for walking in Glen Clova.
- Wild camping is permitted throughout Scotland, as long as you follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
- The only way in and out of Glen Clova is via a single-track road with a dead end. Having your own transportation is essential.
- Jock’s Road is a challenging walk, which has been the site of tragedy. Coming prepared and properly equipped is critical.
