Rosebud Ranch

1 unit · Glamping13 acres · Umberleigh, England
Rosebud Ranch is an off grid, 13 acre, adults only, eco friendly alpaca farm situated between Dartmoor and Exmoor in North Devon. We have lovely views, abundant wildlife and some stunning sunsets! There is a woodland adjoining our land which is home to owls, deer and many other wild animals, we often see hares playing in our fields too! The Ranch has been built up over the last 6 years from being just fields to a working farm and home for us with our animals, a herd of alpacas, a small flock of very friendly sheep, bees, hens, horses, cats and a dog. We have used reclaimed materials for many projects including animals shelters, we are fully solar powered, we farm organically and we make rugs and horse tack from alpaca/sheep fleece! We are known for being the first farm in the UK to offer 'alpaca yoga' and appeared on ITV This Morning with our herd, the Rosebud Alpacas. We are very passionate about wellbeing, nurturing mind, body and soul and so we pride ourselves on offering genuine connection to nature and animals in an authentic setting. The beauty of staying with us is that you have plenty of privacy due to us not being a large site, we much prefer to offer peace and tranquillity to our guests, we have had many compliments about how our farm enables time to recharge and just be. As the herd are located next to the tent, you will experience the true nature of the alpaca whilst they interact, feed their babies and you can watch the alpaca babies ( cria ) play. Our super friendly sheep are always close by for some attention too! South Molton town is a 10 min drive and there are a couple of country pubs within walking distance. Our neighbours at Collacott offer riding lessons/hacks and we are within easy reach of some beautiful beaches. Bespoke rug orders can be taken and we also sell our produce on site such as alpaca yarn, fresh eggs, soap, honey from our own bees, extra fire wood and more. We grow our own veg using horse and alpaca manure so occasionally sell the vegetables and the alpaca poop! It is in great demand, mostly because it doesn't need to be rotted down, used straight from alpaca to garden!

Ranch campsites near Sidmouth guide

Overview

On the shores of the English Channel, Sidmouth is a South West England seaside escape beloved for its warm summer weather. Relax on beaches in town, then explore East Devon Way for a historic walking tour of Devon’s coastline and pitch a tent in the meadow at East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Or sleep in style in glamping tents in Blackdown Hills AONB after a day wandering the marsh ecosystems.

Where to go

East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Travel 64 kilometres of historic trails through the heart of this AONB on a ramble along East Devon Way. This popular path takes hikers from Exmouth to Lyme Regis, past rolling meadows and historic villages that make up the AONB. Stock up on local produce, have a pint at a pub, and stay overnight in tent pitches next to streams and creeks to enjoy the green wilderness of East Devon.

Dartmoor National Park

Less than an hour drive from Sidmouth, Dartmoor National Park offers an expanse of hiking trails over granite hillsides and grassy moors. Try Miles Without Stiles accessible walking paths, and look for river otters that call this landscape home. Dartmoor National Park offers both designated camping pitches as well as land approved for wild camping inside the park.

Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

A winding array of multi-use bridle paths make Blackdown Hills a popular spot for hiking, biking, and horseback riding adventures. Visit historic sites like Upottery Airfield Heritage Centre to learn about D-Day operations, or take a peaceful stroll through wildlife areas like Hense Moor for a glimpse into the local marsh ecosystems. Private camping parks with tent pitches, glamping sites, and caravan camping make it easy to stay close to the excitement in Blackdown Hills AONB.

When to go

Pleasantly sunny weather with temperatures around 21°C makes Sidmouth a popular summer destination for sea bathers who flock to the beaches. The town’s reputation as a tourist spot makes for camping competition from June to August, when holiday parks can become quite crowded. Spring and fall are often quieter and slightly cooler, so it’s best to pack a few layers for wind and precipitation. Many AONBs and campsites are open year-round, so those seeking fewer crowds can find beautiful spots to camp in the off-season.
