That’s because Camber Sands beach is renowned for its beautiful and unusual natural features. It's home to the only sand dune system in East Sussex and is renowned for sea currents and drifting sands that move out towards neighbouring Dungeness – a giant shingle spit and National Nature Reserve. If you like to combine your camping with watersports, wildlife and days on the beach it’s hard to beat camping at Camber Sands.

The clue is in the name; Camber Sands. It’s beach as far as the eye can see here – a massive expanse of golden sand at low tide with grassy dunes providing the back drop. It’s a popular place for picnicking, paddling, horseriding and beach games – and a renowned spot for kitesurfing too. Situated on the south coast, where Kent meets East Sussex, the village of Camber has a few places to eat, drink and pick up a bucket and spade but it’s nearby Rye that provides interest outside of the beach. The combination of historic Rye and beachside Camber, all within relatively easy reach of London make it a tempting destination for a camping or Glamping Holiday. There are all sorts of sites to cater to all tastes – including plenty which get the Hipcamp seal of approval.
Things to do in Camber Sands
Days on the beach are top of the list when it comes to camping at Camber Sands. Swim, sunbathe, build sandcastles and make the most of the water in whatever way suits you best. There are a number of kite surf schools which offer lessons too. Camber Sands is sandwiched by nature reserves – with Dungeness RSPB on one side and Rye Harbour Nature Reserve on the other. Historic Rye, a couple of miles away, is a lovely place for a wander with plenty of shops, pubs and eateries among its cobbled shops as well as the Rye Museum and Rye Heritage Centre . You can pick up the catch of the day at one of the fish shops in Rye or other-worldly Dungeness which also offers the chance to climb the lighthouse or step aboard the little trains of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Light Railway .
