Alfriston is a village within the beautiful Cuckmere Valley, part of the South Downs National Park. It’s a great place to explore on foot, by bike or on horseback and the South Downs Way National Trail runs right through the village making it a handy spot to stop off if you’re taking on the whole route or a great base from which to explore. The village itself has a little high street with a few independent shops and some great country pubs as well as a National Trust treasure. The Alfriston Clergy House was the first property acquired and protected by the National Trust and remains open to visitors.
