It’s a place where you can stock up on the essentials but also while away a few holiday hours. The countryside around Alfriston is where you’ll find camping and glamping sites of every description. You can pitch your own tent, park up in a campervan or book yourself in to a yurt, shepherd’s hut or cabin for an upmarket glamping stay.

Things to do in Alfriston

Alfriston is a village within the beautiful Cuckmere Valley, part of the South Downs National Park. It’s a great place to explore on foot, by bike or on horseback and the South Downs Way National Trail runs right through the village making it a handy spot to stop off if you’re taking on the whole route or a great base from which to explore. The village itself has a little high street with a few independent shops and some great country pubs as well as a National Trust treasure. The Alfriston Clergy House was the first property acquired and protected by the National Trust and remains open to visitors. Thought to date back to around 1400, it is forever associated with the village church, which is also worth a look. Families with kids will be pleased to know that the ever-popular Drusillas Zoo Park is just a few minutes’ drive out of the village too. Add to this the proximity of the south coast (just four miles away) with the Seven Sisters Country Park, Eastbourne and Brighton nearby and you won’t run out of things to do while you’re camping in Alfriston.
