The Red Lion makes a splendid base for aviation and wartime history buffs, with the heritage centre nearby and the displays and memorials of the International Bomber Command Centre a 45-minute drive away. The popular village of Westleton (10 minutes’ drive) has a village store, a farm shop, a garage and 2 pubs; and if you fancy a change from cooking, there is also a nice pub and a tearoom, in the Darsham village area (only 5 minutes drive or a 30 minute walk away through some lovely fields). Back on site, there are a toilet cabins with hot running water, plus other facilities including 4 showers, a portaloo, and a washing machine, grey waste and chemical toilet disposal and recycling points. Wi-fi is nearly all over the site too. The shared facilities at the top of the site also has a fridge and a washing up area, with a warm water tap, a nearby kettle and a plug socket for charging mobiles. What a unique and beautiful place to have stumbled across as a last minute change of travel plans. I almost forgot I was in Norfolk, this spot is incredibly well maintained, peaceful, a dream to wake up by the water and watch the swans and heron and has all the amenities you could need for a camping trip or similar. Great location, everywhere is accessible and yet you don’t feel trapped in the hustle and bustle of the coast. And getting a HOT shower right in nature topped it off, just what I needed.

We camped in a lovely field, with amazing facilities. Clean showers with plentiful hot water, clean toilets and a washing up area. We had an electric pitch right on the edge of the fields with lovely views of the sunset. It wasn't very busy during our stay, so was very peaceful. Close to some great restaurants which were very child-friendly. We paid extra for a campfire each night, but unfortunately, due to the strong winds on our 2nd night, we thought it would be safer to not use this! The campsite manager covered it for us to prevent it getting wet in any case. Lovely place, would definitely stay here again!

Nice campsite in peaceful rural surroundings with good facilities and a pub next door. Be aware that if you camp on a Sunday the pub closes early in the evening and doesn't serve food after lunch.

Lovely campsite with lots of amenities like fridge freezer, kettle and toaster. All very well laid out and clearly organised! The site itself is quiet and pretty, lots of level ground and space. I will be back!

1 night at The Red Lion
I enjoyed my stay at the Red Lion campsite. It's a self-service style campsite as was well organised with gate codes etc. There was plenty of space and options for electric and non-electric, as well as a newly built children's play area. I choose to stay in one of the non-electric grass pitches which extended right back into the site away from the centre hub, and it was lovely and quiet with beautiful views. There are also fire pits to rent as well as a pub onsite directly linked with the campsite. The showers were lovely and hot too!

Beautiful site with pitches round the lake and in the forest. So much wildlife including swans and bats! Facilities are rustic and basic but clean, and the site in general is well kept with mowed meadows between wilder growth. The tranquility of the site is somewhat disturbed by gunshots on surrounding farmland every 10 minutes or so from 7am until dusk which we presumed was an automated system to deter birds from the crops? 15 minutes drive to the nearest beach of Salthouse and 5mins to the town of Holt which has plenty of shops selling groceries, pet supplies and fuel.

We had a wonderful time during our stay at Hill Farm CL Site. The host was incredibly helpful and polite, ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable visit. Due to the time of year and the recent rain, the woodland area was a bit boggy, but the host promptly moved us to an all-weather hard-standing pitch, which was perfect. We appreciated having full electric hook-up and fresh water conveniently available right on the pitch. It was a peaceful and relaxing getaway, and we thoroughly enjoyed our few days there. Highly recommended!
