1. Camping at the Island Farm!

15km from Metz · 1 unit · Tent, Motorhome
Welcome to our Island Farm! We're located between Davis, Parsons, and Elkins. Dolly Sods, Canaan, Audra State Park, the Tygart River, the Cheat River, Seneca Rocks, and Tygart Lake are all a simple and scenic trip away. The land itself is 10 acres. The main camp area is on flat field and approximately 4 acres. Here is the secret recipe to this camp site: It will be all yours! We only offer a single primitive site per night. There are no neighbors (at least the human kind) visible from anywhere on the main field. Very minimal light pollution. The stars are clearly visible on a clear night. There are also no utilities. This includes water, electricity, or available enclosed shelters. Verizon and AT&T have strong signals in the field. There is a metal carport that has a concrete pad along with a Porta John for privacy. There are also some storage buildings on site. There is a gas station (Sheetz in Belington, WV) within 5 miles of the farm site and a Dollar General within 3 miles. Beyond that, Elkins has plenty of store options if you need supplies. Interstate 79 is 32 miles away. We are in the process of developing the far corner of the main field into an active hops farm and are members of a WV Co-Hop. Again: this site is secluded and your group will be the only people there during your stay. We will provide detailed directions when you make your reservation. The driveway is steep and could cause issues for two wheel drive vehicles in winter. If it's rained extensively there could also be some muddy areas which we ask that you try to avoid.

Escape the noise and immerse yourself in nature on your own private 32-acre off-grid sanctuary. Nestled directly on a beautiful creek and surrounded by three different national forests, this is the perfect basecamp for your next adventure or a peaceful retreat to recharge. This isn't a crowded campground; it's your land to explore. Fall asleep to the sound of a gentle creek, wake up to the crisp mountain air, and spend your days hiking, fishing, or simply relaxing by the fire. With direct access to thousands of acres of public land, the possibilities are endless. Whether you're looking for a weekend getaway in your tent or a longer stay in your self-contained RV, this slice of paradise offers the solitude and connection to the wild you've been searching for. The Space: * 32 Private Acres: Your campsite is on a sprawling 32-acre property, ensuring total privacy and a true sense of seclusion. 1/3 is forested and the rest is creekside or pastureland. Our private home is on the far end of the property with its own separate entrance. You have your own driveway and gated entrance. * We are close enough that if you need a cup of sugar or a telephone, we are here for you, but we also won’t intervene in your private business unless invited to do so like have live guitar singalong by the fireside… If you stay up late howling at the moon, or if your dog barks at wildlife late at night, you’re far enough away that we won’t be bothered ;-) * Creekside Access: The property fronts a serene creek with truly pristine water; due to the remoteness here, there is no industry or population density to pollute it. It's perfect for cooling off on a warm day, trying your luck at fishing, or simply enjoying the tranquil sounds of flowing water. * National Forest Border: You are literally surrounded by three national forests. Step off your site and directly into miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and wildlife viewing. * Spacious & Level Sites: We have multiple, large, and level areas perfect for setting up tents or parking self-contained RVs. You'll have plenty of room to spread out and make yourself at home. * Off-Grid Experience: This is a true off-grid experience. Come prepared to disconnect (no phone service) and enjoy the stars, free from city light pollution.
