Purchased in 1989, this small piece of heaven was developed by Peter & Suelaine Poot into a home for their family and beginning in 2003, a welcoming alpaca farm. The bush area has been used for camping by many local and visiting scouting groups over the years. In 2021, we joined Hip Camp and now allow others to enjoy the beauty, peace, and challenges of camping in our bush. The alpacas are a peaceful herd to watch as they graze their way through the day. Crias (baby alpacas), love to pronk and play in the pastures near their mothers. During May you may observe us shearing the alpacas. June is the birthing and breeding month. They birth quickly, so watch carefully. Tours of the farm with explanations of the fibre harvest process and opportunities to walk the alpacas are available to be booked through our website.

The bush is a beautiful, secluded, primitive camp site. A pit toilet, a very large wooden table with benches, fire pit, and wood storage shelter are in place for your use. There is space for a few tents. All gear, and water, must be carried in from the parking area, about 300 metres. No motorized vehicles are allowed to drive to the site.

Site 2 is right next to the paddocks for the alpacas. Depending on the current weather conditions, you may park or pitch your tent on the grass or the gravel drive. Port-a-potty available right there by the paddocks. Shared firepit over looking the pastures. 15 amp electrical hook up available at $10/night. Water hook up available for $10/night.

Site #3, The Loop is a level gravel drive through site ideal for RVs. Located right next to the maternity pasture, you will get to see the youngest of the crias (baby alpacas) with their moms in the early part of the summer. Later in the year, the occupants of that area may be some of the machos (breeding males) or the young girls, depending on the current conditions of the pastures. Electrical hook up, 15 or 30 amp, water hook up, fire ring, and park grill, are all available for use at a small additional fee. There is space enough for more than 1 RV, if you are traveling with others. Tent camping is also allowed in this area.

This was our first experience using Hipcamp, and it was awesome! Suelaine and Peter were amazing hosts, they were super helpful in getting us situated when we got there. They made us feel welcome and let us help walk the alpacas each morning! The store has so many cute things! We would definitely camp here again!

Another amazing stay with family at suelaine and Peter’s alpaca farm. This time we brought our parents. They enjoyed it a lot. And of course had a lot of fun with BP. They will probably remember BP for life. Thanks. Will be back soon!

I had a wonderful experience at this campsite! Suelaine, the host, was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The campsite itself was very well maintained, and we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. One of the highlights was definitely the night sky. The stars were absolutely breathtaking and made for a truly memorable experience. I would recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable outdoor getaway!

My wife and I had a lovely night at Pootcorners. We parked our trailer in "the loop" and met the lovely reception dog BP. Peter and Suelian we're gracious and kind and we purchased skme alpaca products prior to departing.

Created some core memories with our 2 year old at Pootcorners! The owners invited us all to feed the alpacas in the morning and evening. A hands on learning experience for the children! Also, BP was a bonus to have around. Truly the sweetest and most gentle dog! At the end of our stay, Suelaine gave us suggestions on what we can do in the area. It happened to be the nearest town’s 150th birthday and they had a bouncy castle for the children so we went there after. She also mentioned Mapleton’s Organic Farm where we can see cows and get fresh milk. Of course we couldn’t pass that one!! We’re so happy to have found this hidden gem!! ‘Till next time!

Such a beautiful and calming spot — peaceful, wild, and full of charm. The alpacas were adorable, and BP the golden dog made it even more special. He was so friendly and sweet. We loved our stay!

we enjoyed our stay at suelaine and peter’s farm.. it was rained all day but suelaine and pete making sure that we are okay while setting up our tent they’re very nice and in the morning we had a chance to see the alcapas and we took a lot of pictures with them and the property. highly recommended

Another gorgeous stay at the Pootcorners!! Rainy day and got bite by a horsefly so make sure you wear light colour clothing.. I was wearing black lol however BP and alpacas are all cute!! Enjoy everyone

Its our first time using HipCamp, and we’re so used to the Ontario Parks booking and management system. We went in to try and at first I was nervous, there was a lot of dog poop at the campsite so I felt maybe it wasnt as prepared as it would be if compared to Ontario Parks management. But what really changed the whole vibe was Suelaine and the rest of the crew at Pootcorner!! Unlike Ontario Parks where you kinda have to figure everything out yourself, or go all the way back to information just to find staff, staying with Suelaine made us feel like we weren’t just camping, we were part of a family for the time we were there. Ben, Peter, Isaac helped us gather what we need, always reminding us of what’s available. Suelaine is the sweetest, guided us where the best and fun spots to go and eat were. Even our co-campers were such a delight to talk to and have drinks with! Their property was big and our site didnt have a limit to parking and tents and people. The portapotty was routinely cleaned, there’s always staff to help you at any time of the day (literally), and there’s so much fun things to do around the area. Suelaine and her family definitely made our first Hipcamp booking encouraging for all the future ones, and we can’t wait to go back and see all the Alpacas again!

We enjoyed our time camping at Pootcorners, communication and directions was clear. Our daughter enjoyed interacting with the alpacas and playing ball with BP the Golden Retriever. Suelaine was a great host with lots of tips and information on local events and sights.

Loved the seclusion of the bush campsite. Adored getting to walk the Alpacas! Suelaine gave a great tour and took care if everything we needed and recommend things to do in town. It was a wonderful experience!

We loved our stay at Pootcorners! Suelaine and her staff are nice and helpful. We did book the tour and walk as extras, and it was well worth it! Even if we hadn't gotten the extras, then we still would've had an amazing time. The alpacas are so cute. The site is peaceful and beautiful. We'll definitely come back with other friends who want to have the same great experience :)

Amazing experience, communication was clear, we were warmly greeted upon arrival and owners made themselves available to answer questions about the alpacas and also for us to watch some shearing of alpaca wool. Lane 2 site is close to the main house but we didn’t feel that impacted the privacy- there are trees, the fenced alpacas and a clean outhouse nearby. The owners do need to be close to the site (to feed the alpacas 7am and 7pm), but they were not noisy- and I found them super approachable and allowed for me to start a conversation if I wanted. They have a super adorable dog on site who is not leashed but does not jump, bark, or beg for food. He was never underfoot and truly was a delightful bonus. We will be back!

Great farm stay. This was a special camping trip because me and my girlfriend were greeted by the host suelaine and her husband! And the friendliest dog BP and the cat, don’t know his name! But definitely enjoyed everything this place could offer. I would definitely try to come back and bring some friends/family members. Thank you. Keep up the good work!!

Suelaine and Peter were very kind hosts and we had a great scouting connection. Being that it’s November, we could see stars right through the trees. Nice camp ground set up and the fire wood was nice and dry. It was a short walk between the camp site and where we parked the car but grateful that we had our wagon (as we were doing “car camping”). The chance to meet the Alpaca and ask questions was definitely an added bonus and look forward to trying the socks I bought from them :). The neighbor did do some logging close to the site that you can see but that s the only negative thing I have to mention.

Great place to learn about Alpacas. Host was very welcoming and involved us in daily chores if we wanted. Wood for purchase was generous and dry! Store available with Alpaca products. We had a great family Thanksgiving on the property. We will likely camp here again.

Great place for small or large groups. My family has previously stayed at provincial parks for Thanksgiving but decided to change it up this year. We had the whole place to ourselves, and the Alpacas of course. The hosts were very friendly and always helpful. Would recommend to anyone looking for a more private family camping experience rather than an overcrowded park..
