This fifteen acre livestock farm in NW IL was my dream when I rode a cubicle, and had to go to the fair to pet a critter. Now I just walk outside and pet them as I unstick their slow learning heads from the fence.

Tent Camping on the Pond Site!
My boyfriend and I set up camp on the “Pond Site” for two nights. It was so nice, we could hear the stream of water and looked at the Milky Way by the fire at night. The Landowners were very friendly and gave us a little tour of their land and the animals when we got there. The Goats and the Donkey were very lovely and friendly. There is a bathroom/shower with full plumbing we were able to use in one of the buildings on the property. Would definitely return again!

Camping at Goatlend
Camping was easy at Naimhe Jeanne s farm. A bit of a walk to our site; but we wanted peace and quiet, so our choice. Goats were a hoot; farm is easy to get to and nearby bike trials made it even better.

Camping on the Farm
If you want to experience farm life and be among the animals this is the place for you. Know this is not a Disney farm park. This is a working farm with busy people running it. You need to manage to cart-in your gear to your site while securing the livestock gates so the animals don't get out. The animals are a very curious bunch! A few come a-running when they hear the gate chains jingle (Ahem, Gretchen, the goat, with her two kids in tow.) Loved Grace, the guard donkey, and the family dog, Libby. Tom was kind enough to let me watch the baby goats being fed and showed me a trout feeding at the pond. It was a more challenging solo camping experience than I'm used to. I chalk that up to age. But I no longer enjoy the party campgrounds. I want peace and goat noises in the distance instead of blaring music and drunkards. (Did I tell you that I'm old?) If you want rustic and solitude, Goatland is the perfect place. Thanks Jeanne & Tom.

Goat Land is the G.O.A.T (by Alec)
I can’t overstate how amazing our hosts were at Goat Land! Jeanne took me and my nephew around a tour of the entire farm and answered every little silly question I had! She also gave my nephew free peacock feathers that he already hung up in his room. And our other host, Tom, was great as well! He let us feed the fish and gave us all the firewood, kindling, and fire starter we could need to get going. And even though it started storming in the middle of the night, we were able to stay in their very accommodating garage loft. My nephew had such a great time that he was begging me for the photos so he could show his friends. Haha thanks again Goat Land!!

Goatland is PARADISE
Our stay at Jeanne’s farm was better than we could have ever hoped for! She keeps a huge variety of animals including a donkey, cow, sheep, goats, Guinea fowl, peacocks, chicken, and you might get to meet her dog Libby! The farm is lush and the different campsites are very spaced out across her 15 acres. She offers access to an indoor bathroom that even has a shower. Jeanne is such a cool host, and extremely welcoming. She’s also incredibly knowledgeable about her animals. I definitely plan to return and I highly recommend it!

Great Place for a Peaceful Visit
Wonderful place! You have the run of the farm but you need to operate with courtesy and respect (for both the owners and the animals). Don't bring kids who will run wild and harass the animals- this is a unique, beautiful place that really allows you access to the farm, so don't take advantage. That being said, come if you're ready to relax and learn more about some animals and interact with them in a lovely setting. The shower and bathroom are a huge plus, and everything is super well kept up.

Amazing place! Great hosts. If you love animals and peace and quiet this is the place for you. We had a great stay; the variety of gentle animals and shower both made this rank as a five star place for us. We will be back!

Goat-tastic
Perfect weekend of camping despite the heat. The views from our site were gorgeous, animals were fun to have hanging around, and location was great for us (close to hiking and breweries). Having a clean bathroom with shower was a definite plus. Read the description - you’ll likely set up camp a ways from your vehicle so consider packing light. From my wife: “I saw a goat be born and it was the greatest most amazing experience in my recent memory. I can’t imagine another camp-on-a-farm adventure even comparing.”

Definitely go
This is a great weekend getaway for young couples or families with older (respectful) kids. The hosts were amazing, Naimhe showed us her property when we got there and then let us do our own thing. We stayed in the Goatland 2 enclosure by the creek and it was beautiful but extremely windy. Make sure you read the full description and are prepared to walk a long distance with gates to the car and bathroom. We had to put our tent down during the day when we left and cooking on an open flame was difficult. The goats stay in their own enclosure and are extremely excited to see you, they will jump so be careful. The sheep roam free during the day and are mostly skiddish but Dolly and Clyde were always ready for pets. There are a few cows, Grace the donkey, and some peafowl. You do need to remember you're on a farm where animals eat and poop so bring hiking shoes- flip flops are ok by the tent but no where else. There are a few things to do within 30 minutes and Pancho & Lefty's Outlaw Grill was delicious. Overall a great and relaxing experience.

Little tent on the prairie!
Best of both worlds— a rustic camp site by a pasture brook, tucked into a little hollow under a willow tree PLUS access to a spotless full bathroom with hot water shower. And then the adorable animals— goats, mop-topped cows, chickens and peacocks plus a donkey— all friendly and safely sequestered in their own pastures. Bright star sky and a fire ring for a campfire. No picnic table. Suggestions: arrive before dark if you want to use my spot as it’s a bit of a walk over a somewhat bumpy pasture— I had my gear in a wheeled duffel which made all the difference. Or a folding wheeled cart could help too. Not a problem if your site is closer to house/vehicle. Also somewhat hard to see Jeanne’s direction landmarks after dark. Great choice if nearby state parks are filled— good pivot spot for Galena and Monroe.

Great stay at a great farm!
Everything was as stated in the listing! Bathroom and shower were a welcome amenity for our camping trip! We were given a tour and allowed to set up where ever we wanted. Fire wood was provided, along with use of a wheel barrow for hauling it!

Animals were awesome.
Our host was so helpful. When we got there she showed us around and gave us some history of farm. She walked us around and let us pick the site we wanted to camp on. There was a super clean bathroom with a tub and shower, a full size fridge we could use and a sink for dishes with clean water. This was the first time I had camped on a farm and I loved it. In the morning, I had my coffee with chickens, peacocks, rams and goats. They also had a sweet cat that would come and visit you from time to time. The location was great. Close to some great breweries, a vegan restaurant and horse back riding. I would definitely return.

Fine if you’re traveling light and don’t mind a more basic site (no fire pit, no table). Lugging my yeti cooler and other camping gear in a wheelbarrow a couple hundred yards through a livestock pen with two gates I had to unchain and re-chain behind me three times to get all my stuff in was a real hassle and left me pretty sweaty. The bathroom and free firewood was nice though.

Fun place to stay, especially for kids and animal lovers. Site was as expected and the hosts were helpful, but left us to do our thing. We have three kids - 8.5, 6, and 3 - and all had a great time meeting the animals and want to come back soon! Would definitely recommend.
