Beautiful location, super friendly host, and the added benefit of farm animals (which our son loved). Plenty of level ground for tents, parking very close to the site and fresh spring water makes this a very convenient camp site. It’s tricky to find as there is no sign on the main road which distinguishes Wandering Hoof Ranch from the many similar properties on the road. Make sure to inquire with host about St #, as this isn’t provided when you book.
Would recommend this camp site to anyone.

We camped in a working field, so had to dodge some cow pies, but the space was beautiful and private. Our camp companions were the adorable Highlander cows and a coop full of chickens. The farm was pretty close access to town as well. I would definitely recommend getting the garden box add in - it was delicious!

Everything was great! Steaks were good, area was beautiful, and all the animals were friendly. The chickens do love to start their mornings early, but that was no bother to us at all. Thanks for everything!

Had an amazing stay at the wandering hoof ranch! The property is so beautiful and very spacious. My friends and I felt very welcomed by Diana and her family. Response time was very quick anytime we had any questions. Would definitely stay here again!

Diana's camping spot is set amongst the rolling hills with a great mountain sunset. The tent site is secluded and is an easy check-in and set up! Would recommend this to anyone, thanks Diana!

The animals were beautiful and the owners are friendly. Cows, chickens, and even a big white rabbit. A lovely, safe place to camp out. Access to water and a toilet which was good. The animals weren't too loud in the korning but there were a few distant "MOOOOOS". Overall a nice experience.

We stayed at the wandering hoof ranch for one night on our way up island. The campsite is located soo close to shopping centres but far enough that you feel like you are in the countryside. We bought free range eggs off Diana and loved them and the chicken they came from. (Very friendly) Unfortunately, the Highland cows were scared of us, if we walked by them they would run off. But one day we went out for food and came back to a baby cow in our campsite. (It squeezed through the fence) super cute moment.

Awesome stay, super relaxing and great views ! 100% recommend for anyone. Diana was an amazing host. Great location, nice fresh eggs and huge site! Fiona the calf was the best entertainment too!

We really enjoyed our camping experience at Diana's campsite. It is super quiet with pretty decent views of the mountains. We had many animal friends to keep an eye on us, some beautiful cattle and some chickens, we even met some deer too. Overall it was a good camping trip. Fresh water is available and there is an outside toilet also.

Such a peaceful place to stay. Very private as it’s down a small hill and far back from the road. Fun experience to camp beside chickens and cows! I would definitely stay here again if I find myself camping on Vancouver Island again.

Wandering Hoof Ranch is a beautiful pastoral location with stunning views of the Beaufort Mountain Range rising in the distance, photogenic highland cattle as neighbours, and friendly hens pecking around the site.
The ranch offers plenty of space to set up tents in the front field, with more sites planned at the back of the property as well. No matter where you set up, the beautiful views abound. Although it was too hot for a fire when I stayed, there are fire pits available, and an outhouse with water tap are provided at the front field near the chicken coop.
Aside from the incredible views, the obvious attraction is, of course, the highland cattle, which graze the fields or relax in the shade. The cows are friendly, and have no qualms with having their photos taken. The chickens too, will peck around your feet and aren’t the slightest bit bothered with you making yourself a home in their domain.
Nearby the Ranch is Stamp River Provincial Park which offers ample opportunity for picnicking, hiking, swimming, fishing, and features the impressive Stamp River Falls. Also nearby, is the town of Port Alberni with pretty much anything you’d need available.
Diana and her partner, Tory, are welcoming hosts who have a friendly and helpful demeanor. Wandering Hoof provides a tranquil, beautiful, and private setting in the Alberni Valley, close to activities as well as on the way to Tofino. Of course, being an active farm and camping in the fields, bring bug spray and be mindful of the livestock and gates.
