I ended up having the whole pasture to myself! Definitely a good idea to set up in the evening shade. The host and family were all very kind and I really liked the soft grass and flat ground!

I stayed here as a last minute over the BC day long weekend and it was actually super awesome. The outhouse was clean. My dogs were able to wander around off leash because it wasn’t super crowded and there wasn’t a ton of visual distraction like a provincial park. AND it was peaceful. Would stay again!

We had a great time camping in Spencer’s field of dreams! My kids loved playing on the stage - we were treated to many dance shows. We hope to be back!

It’s such a great spot. It’s a nice open field. You can camp anywhere you want. We discovered a swimming hole nearby. And you’re only 15 minutes from town.

Lovely level open field, clean portapotty, in a quiet rural area. I would camp here again. The Google maps app does not take you to the exact address, be aware of the lot numbers.

I always start with the positives. The field was lovely - it was a peaceful, quiet location to set up our tents. They also accepted our late reservation, which was great. Now to the concerns. The host was not on site - several people who were house sitting for him came to say hi, but could not help us locate the water spigot. We drove to the store for potable water, and later learned the water access was up by his house, nowhere near the camping. Also, the porta potty was quite full and had no toilet paper. There was dog poop in the camping area and yellowjackets/wasps by the platform. The place has great potential, but needs more care given to maintenance. Many of the photos on the website do not represent the reality of the camp. Finally, the host may want to share with potential campers that this is a religous based location, in case potential patrons have different views. The large cross in the camping area seems to have been placed there for a Christian music festival, according to the house sitters, and would probably be a strong draw for people of that faith. Overall we appreciated the opportunity to camp last minute, but this site did not meet our expectations based on the description, photos, and hipcamp standards.

This was a beautiful place to camp, we even seen a few deers and lots of room to pick from! But they were lacking in maintenance a little, my car bottomed out on the bridge, the bathroom wasn’t very clean and they were out of water.

The field of dreams truly held up to its name- the camp was amazing! we pulled into camp with the sun glistening on the massive field of freshly cut grass, and had a great talk with Spencer, who was enjoying an evening with his family. In terms of the camp, everything was taken care of it, and the price was an absolute steal for how great this spot is. Thanks again, Spencer!

Absolutely loved the space. We hosted a friends going away party here and we had the most incredible time. Private, HUGE area that allowed us to spread out. Our group played games, played music and enjoyed the opportunity to camp in a field. Can’t recommend enough.

plus side- field was private and quiet except for distance hwy. noise. Lot’s of room, level site. My dog loved running around. Spencer was friendly.
negative- the site was hard to find, the pinned location didn’t take us to the exact address. The water was not right at the site. The toilet was an r.v. portable toilet that hadn’t been cleaned when we arrived and got a pretty gross surprise when we opened it. (Spencer did clean it after we arrived), there was no toilet paper provided and it was not in a private location. Overall this site would have been great for a self contained r.v. or camper, but not really a great set up for tent camping.

Very friendly and a lot of space. There was Tables, chairs and a gas grill with gas free to use. Keep in mind there is only a portable toilet so its better to bring your own toilet if thats important to you.

The campsite was absolutely wonderful , great place for big groups with kids, kids have a large open field to play in.

Post lists picnic table, there was none. Post listed water, I could not find it. Toilet was a porta potty. I messaged the host with a question and did not hear back after I checked out. Overall you get a field for paying and nothing else.

We loved everything in this place, the glamping tent, the open field where kids can run freely, the sand pit and more. It was more than what we hoped for. Highly recommended for big groups or families with small kids.

Spencer offered us a huge space on his property. It was one of the quietest we had so far. Although we did not use it he had a small veranda with lots of seating, a gas fired fireplace and on top a grill.
What more could you want.

Just outside of Courtney, in the small hamlet of Merville, Spencer's property is quiet, peaceful and close to the plethora of activities the Comox Valley has to offer.
The large field allows plenty of space to set up a tent, go for a walk, or play field games. A wooden platform is available for those with a free-standing tent, with a bbq, chairs, firepit, and tables adjacent. Steps away there's a small corral with a portable toilet and sink.
The field is ripe with activity from the small birds and bugs, and glimpses of the distant mountains are visible through the trees across the field.
Within walking distance there's a small convenience store and gas station with basic supplies and liquor. Courtney is a short drive away with anything else one could need. Kitty Coleman Provincial Park is close by with beach access and a boat launch. Nymph Falls is also nearby with great swimming and hiking opportunities.
Spencer is kind and enthusiastic to share what the local area has to offer, and has provided a great place to set up and explore from.
